you shouldn't bother with Shale, or does her DPS or Ranged mode prove useful? Is another character better for DPS then, like Ohgren?
I'm using currently Barkspawn [Dog], Leliana, & Wynne.
If Ohgren is better, what second spec, since the MC is a Champion / Templar. Reaver?
If your MC is a Tank.....

The only good dps NPC (besides Morrigan is primal mode) is Zevran.

I doubt that, since the NPCs fail at backstabbing positioning._Loc_N_lol_ wrote...

Zevran absolutely tears everyone apart. I wouldn't agree on Zevran being the only good DPS NPC, but he is definately the best.

Hm I run with:
MC (Tank) - Leliana (Backstab/dual weapons and lockpicking) - Wynne (healer) - Morrigan (Magical DPS)
DPS mages are insane. I feel kind of impotent as a tank since I don't really do anything but run in and everything's dead leaving me with less than three enemies to taunt if at all. I've used Alistair in a two hand DPS in place of Morrigan on occassion but Morrigan seems to outshine everything usually because of lockdown + insane damage - i.e. Crushing prison, winter's grasp, lightning tends to wipe the floor with most mobs.

Positioning a backstabber each fight (multiple times each fight) deters me too much from me tanking. If I wanted that, I would've rolled a DW Rogue.Varenus Luckmann wrote...

Shale is a good companion, pretty versatile, he got some nice aoe stuff for dmg and CC also his natural dmg is boosted by hexes if you use them
Morry will be best dps but you will have to manage her, Zev is also good but you have to position him for backstab...
2h guys can do 80-100dmg/swing later but they hit slow so if you want to boost their dps the speed buff can be a good idea (expecially if you have a melee focused party)

I just hate that Morrigan is a Shapeshifter, such wasted potential...

Whats a good spec for morrigan? They need a primal or elemental spec for nuking mages. Spirit Healer is great for a dedicated healer, blood mage is allright I guess. Arcane warrior and shapeshifter seem more suited to be hybrids with melee builds.

It's true that Mage dps is sometimes insane. But Melee dps isn't bad. I use Zevran a lot with my current character and he does nice dmg (plus he can dissarm traps and pick lock if you choose such talents), but I have used both Sten and Oghren as well, they get good once properly geared, and they can take more beating than say Morrigan or Zevran. I guess the fault of Melee dps is that they often lack aoe and good cc compared to mages.
