Is there a trick to stopping his recharge of shields? He keeps doing it...

When he creates the first pit, just try to stay in cover in it.

Biotic/tech powers are ESSENTIAL here. Throw up anything that'll distract the foot soldiers. And be liberal with medigel. Use as much as you need - there's not another fight for a bit after this.

He destroys the floor four total times (including the first occurrence when he enters the room). After that, unleash everything at him to trigger the next cutscene. All enemies must be "defeated" to trigger it, however.

To get him to stop, you have to kill nearly all the other foot soldiers. Don't bother attacking him while he recharges. But once he destroys the floor four times, like I said, he will NOT recharge anymore and he's pretty much as easy to take out as a Centurion.

I had to get really pissed off in order to beat him. As soon as I saw 2 cheap ass Phantoms that was it. Nothing pisses me off more than the Phantoms. The more pissed I get, the better I play.

Did this yesterday on insanity, died quite a few times. It mostly depends on your luck : if he starts rushing you and you are forced out of cover you're dead. If instead he doesn't target you and tries to kill off your squad you're OK.

I was just going to say this.  I tried it during my first play through on "Normal" and had to lower the difficulty.  After a dozen attempts I could make it to the fourth floor destruction, but always got cornered by him or sniped.  However I was focusing all my energy on him.  The first couple waves of Cerberus are fairly easy to take out if you got some decent biotic or tech powers with you.  Once the snipers get involved you almost have to have Liara's Stasis and be quick with a sniper rifle... while trying to keep you distance from Kai.  If he corners you while he still has shields left, you're toast.  No getting around it.

In my play through it was "That was for Miranda you son of a beotch".  I wonder if it's possible to save them?

With the Widow, Garrus put one into the back of that jerk's skull, then I finished him off and told him Thane sent his regards. He was definitely one of the hardest fights in the game for me, I'm ashamed to admit how difficult it was for me to figure out the pattern for the Reaper on Rannoch. Or the last Reaper forces swarm on Earth, Vanguard vs a squad of Banshees is a carefully timed dance that can end in impalement.

Paragon you let him try to stab, you dodge and break the sword, then kill him like the renegade action, SOB insult included. I like it more and you let him foolishly try and you break KL's sword.

You have to roll out to the side immediatley or your toast. I had to lower the difficulty as well.

beat him on insanity with an adept, edi and garrus as my squad mates.. it was hard.. i threw my controller a few times.. as a adept, i had my throw ability at about .99s cooldown, i would chain spam it at kai leng and when he was far enough away, throw a singularity at the adds and boom.. when the phantoms came, get to the first panels he blows away and kill the one as she lands.. he then starts coming after you.. spam throw, have your squad kill the other phantom.. profit..

i beat him on my first try only because i dont even remember having to focus on him for even a second. i figured id have to wait untill he hulk smashes the netire grownd, so i just basically ran around and killing each grunt one by one, and then all of the sudden i hit a cut scene with kai leng on the ground.

i guess ash and garrus need a good nerfing.

Interrupts are now QTEs. Because that's an "intelligent" move. GG Bioware.

This fight is crap. Along with the Reaper fight and a few other combat sequences, the Kai Leng fight typifies an abysmally poor combat design prevalent throughout ME3 that relies on repetition and luck rather than perception and adaptation. This and this alone is why I rate ME3 an 8.5 rather than a 10.

I just wonder how you even hit the squirrelly bastard if you're not playing a vanguard. (He's crazy easy on a vanguard, but it's also incredibly stupid to hear him keep calling you "slow" through the whole fight. Uh, no. I'm moving quite a bit faster than you actually.)

I love that  he called me slow while I was in the middle of CHARGING HIM. Maybe he missed where I was the second he said it because I was a blur at the moment.

Only time it became a pain in the ass was when those phantoms snuck up on me. They're typically super easy with a vanguard... so long as I actually notice them first.

I rolled with Garrus and Liara.

Garrus had the Javelin maxxed out and Liara had Stasis.

I don't think I even landed one shot on him (focusing on getting rid of the riff-raff) and after the fourth wave, I turn around just as Garrus headshots him...

Hardocre with adept, easy as hell...Now, that fight in Sanctuary with the banshee and brutes..damn that's annoying.

I had to bring EDI with me for this mission. How do you bring Garrus and Liara?

This fight is ridiculous. I'm playing as an Infiltrator, with EDI and Liara and I can't make it past the first group of cerberus troops. If I did not have Energy Drain I would never even make it there. My shields are constantly down; I can only survive by using Energy Drain, and my shields are invariably taken down almost immediately afterwards. I roll around like crazy, I shoot him in the face and he doesn't even flinch. Am I missing something?

Edit: other than "a more combat-oriented companion," hurr

I hate fights like this. It reminds me of fighting Wesker in RE5, only this game is much harder.

The fight is tough! Had to lower the difficulty to normal as a Vanguard. Yes, I know. /facepalm
