What annoyed me even more was the fact that none of the missions had little dialogue or explanation of what's going on with the people involved beforehand or after. For example, on Rannoch I was expecting the Geth and the Quarians to have a meeting a discuss peace/whatever. Instead I get a letter, I go to a planet with little extra information, complete a main mission like it's a sidequest, and nobody even cares. Every mission played like a sidequest.

NO F`KIN SPOILERS PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take a pill, draw the blinds, close your eyes.

We all knew about the Quarian/Geth conflict, and that we're were going to solve it. Plus, what little he/she/it talks about isn't really a spoiler, because nothing about the mission(s) is detailed.

Its like saying "This happened, then this explodes, and then this dies."

so basically what your saying is because YOU knew about them, everyone else must know about them.
and what YOU think is a "little" spoiler then everyone else should also see as a "little" spoiler.

even though the rule clearly states
NO SPOILERS...not no spoilers except "little" spoilers....

then tell me oh omnipitant one
and just how far up ones own anus must a person be to think he is the decider of what others think ??

The more people that miss/fail side-quests, the more are forced to play the Multiplayer in order to get the complete ending.

The more people playing the Multiplayer, the larger the installed customer based who will want to buy DLC map packs.

if theres a subscription to MP then that theory holds water.

but if the MP is free to play, then i fail to see how it could be thought as forced,as it would be costing them to run the servers.

but to be honest these days of many many free to play servers, and established MP games,i cant see any newcomer having any success without a major and i mean major leap forward in game design.

even an ad based system wouldnt warrant the expense.

That one's easy. They did it so it would take more time to complete any and all side quests and thus give the illusion that the game is longer.

Does anybody use the maps? They're much improved over ME2 and tell you in blue if there is an NPC you need to speak with. Something else that might help is a piece of paper. Of course, that takes too much damn work. It's much better to just come here and b**** about it, am I right?

Finally. Writing down small quest things on a paper helps a lot.

Totally agree. I mean, you said it 100x harsher than I would of, but again - I agree. I've only just started ME3 and I'm staying out of the spoiler forums unless I get stuck (which I haven't yet...) so I really don't want to see spoilers in the "No spoiler" section, no matter how "small" they are!

IMO, fixing the journal is worthy of a Patch.

Because it makes things complicated. Bioware is under the impression that we're retards who are only interested in blowing things up, rather than reading.

I'm guessing it required too much RAM?

That seems to be the standard excuse around here...

This is when I first noticed it.

Then yesterday and was like, "Oh yeah." and tried clicking it. My mind went blank when nothing happened.
I was lucky I clicked the thumbstick to check the map and saw a name pop up for the final step.

Can a patch fix this?

That's kind of the point though: it doesn't. In fact, it makes things easier and more "manageable" in the long run.
I do remember the times when I had to play games with an actual journal by my side and write things down. The issue here is that the game in question tries way too hard NOT to be this kind of gaming experience and streamlines every existing aspect of gameplay (with varied degrees of success, I might add). So this begs the question: why change the journal? It goes against THEIR design philosophy, as I see it.

Yah I've noticed this as well. It would be nice if it was split up into Main missions and Side mission like in ME2 as well.

I really haven't minded it yet, I've finished most of the side missions just by exploring the citadel. I however hate the DA2 style quests where you find something while scanning, come back to the citadel, walk up to some person you've never talked to and say I've found what you were looking for.

Can I talk to people, and have them explain to me what they need, instead of knowing who gets what through clairvoyance.

Seriously, you complain because you aren't babysitted to every step of a quest?
You might rather want to play Skyward sword then...

I agree its really inconvenient. Journal system from ME1 or 2 would be INFINITELY better than this dreck, way too tough to manage simple side quests in this game.

The Journal is a real mess in this game. I play on the Xbox and my cursor always starts at the middle of a long list of completed quests, which then forces me to scroll all the way to the top only to find a mess of side quests and main quests interspersed with no clear organization.

I must have accumulated 40 missions or so on the Citadel alone and a majority of the time I complete them by walking clockwise through each Citadel zone, thoughtlessly clicking on whatever flashing blue circles I come across. Most of these quests don't even feel important since they are initiated by Shepard eavesdropping on conversations without any proper dialogue tree.

Looks like the inclusion of a multiplayer mode made the single player game suffer after all.

You actually have to listen to what characters has say to find those items now, no problem for me. You have to pay a little more attention to game, that's all.

But I am still curious why this design change was made, if any of devs can bring more insight to this feature, please tell us.

Edit: I agree with others on Kasumi mission, it seems little tedious.

Not to mention this quest is also bugged. Image IPB I ran around for at least an hour trying to find even the very first terminal that shows on the map but nope, nothing to interact with. For that matter because of the journal entry and dialogue I didn't even really know where the terminal I was looking for was (then I asked the interwebs and found out that like me, a chunk of people have it bugged)!

The thing is, we are Shepard - and this is the Future. I have access to the Extra-net, EDI, etc - and I would prefer that my quest logs update and provide me with more data than is originally presented. Telling me about said object on said planet in the whole of the galaxy helps me little to none. Throw me a bone here - why do I have to log onto wikipedia for info that was in the last game? Do the Devs feel smug because they know some obscure tidbit and I do not?

Why am I being challenged by the Devs about remote planets in obscure systems? Perhaps I would like my quest log to act like a real quest log and not a simple static inventory sheet. Also - I will be DAMNED if I am sitting at my PC, playing this game with a pad and pen, writing crap down about some conversation between a sloppy fat volus and a salarian. Make the quest logs work! Bring back whomever did this in ME2, because they had it right! Why is something that was not broken being fixed?

Is it true that because they sent and spent so much funding on the MP that the SP got raped? Are you telling me that the ENTIRE QA team did not notice that some of this stuff to find in the Galactic war is a PAIN in the quad to find? Perhaps it is supposed to be hard to acquire, I grant that - but I am going to give you guys a hint here, and for free: If an item or asset is of significant importance in the Galactic War, then make the mission to get it tough. Do not make the item or asset nearly impossible to locate, or force me to exit the game I am playing in order to locate it. To do so is 'Loco'. If I have to exit your game in order to find locations in your game then it is not worth playing. I am not a research nerd with 4 foot thick glasses that keeps 15 monitors on their desk running at all times so that I can cross reference 85 different topics in 35 languages while playing my game - DO NOT TREAT ME LIKE ONE.

You guys really need to think about this - because it is trifling. Even in ME1 the quest logs updated! So did the maps, which we use for these cryptic quests. The current mapping system is not accurate, and does not update properly. It might tell me where some squadmates are, but if you are looking for Barla Von - then I assure you the map is incorrect more often than it is correct.

One of the things that brought me to the ME series was the quality of the games. They were polished and sharp, brought a great story and lots of action. I am not at all pleased to see that this luster is gone for the final installment.
