 Are you guys having more luck with veteran or spectre packs? I miss my Asari Adept so much

Think I've unlocked 4 Spectre packs, no rare characters yet, but I did get a Black Widow (which is awesome by the way).

Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten any mods for sniper rifles except the thermal mod.. and I've opened TONS of recruit/vet packages. The lack of mods is really, really frustrating.

Ive been reading mixed results. I bought 10$ worth of sectre packs to start and got lucky with 4 characters. Asari adept and salarian infiltrator, plus both krogan. Since then spectre has given me to many duplicate characters, so switched to veteran untill I can do gold consistently. Also got a bonus to max ammo items (3 now) which I didn't know existed, wish it had been rockets or health.

There is such a huge pool of gold items, hoping for one is almost guaranteed disappointment.

Yea I have nowhere near the amount or level of mods I had in the demo.

I got my Krogan Sentinal out of a spectre pack.Veteran I usually just get silver stuff. Havent gotten any rares yet.

Which characters are rare?

I decided to spend some real money to (hopefully) get some good or interesting starting equipment and characters.
I've bought 12 spectre packs if I recall correctly. I can't verify right now but here are the characters I'm pretty sure I got.

3x Quarian Engineer (my favourite class right now. I really like those elemental explosions. I still haven't quite determined how useful my full upgraded sentry turret is though)
2x Asari Vanguard
1x Asari Adept
1x Salarian Engineer
1x Krogan Soldier
+ a couple of human characters if I recall correctly.

A bioware dude said none of the characters are ultra rare, only weapons. Sorry dont remember which thread.

I've only been unlocking recruit packs, as its the only one that says it unlocks characters. I've unlocked both the Drell adept and Salarian engineer this way, and really haven't played that much (I have an 18 adept, 9 eng and the rest are lv4 or below).

Given the vet and spec packs say they are best for unlocking better weapons, and the recruit says its best for unlocking chars, I would put my money on exactly that. Has anyone actually ever read that the non-human characters are rare? Obviously weapons and exp packs are gotten for more often, but that seems to be true for the two higher level packs, as well.

Edit: post above says chars aren't rare, as I expected

From a farming perspective, while the Spectre pack has better odds per pack, the Veteran packs are better since they have a decent chance for a rare while costing 1/3 of the Spectre. So for 60,000 credits, you can get one Spectre pack with maybe two rares, or three Veteran packs for a possible six rares.

Each class has a Rare (gold) unlock species. Just as every class also has an uncommon (silver) unlock.

Recruit packs don't give any higher chance of getting character unlocks. Though, if you're lucky, and have good RNG, you can get them that way. There's just a much higher chance of getting a rare character unlock with Spectre packs because of the guaranteed rare item.

  The way I look at it is, either are good, but Id rather get them regularly.  You get vet packs every 3 out of 4 on bronze.  You get spectre every 5 out of 6 on gold.  Or buy 1+ veteran every silver match.  That way you usually get a reward as your waiting for the next match.

managed to get an N7 rare grade weapon from a spector pack, unfortunatly it was gold bling bling shotgun which is god awfull compared to some of the others you can unlock + i dont use shotguns I hate them, did get that nade spam rifle as well feels like im back in TF2 as demoman "MY class TAKES SKILL!"

I wish the characters themselves could be purchased, and the packs were for weapons and upgrades only.

Playing as an alien was a big draw for the game, and making the possibility RNG kinda sucks.
