I remember someone referred to ME being like an Alistair Reynolds series of books (Revelation Space) on this forum. Because of this, I was hoping the ending wouldn't be the same. They almost were in a way. In the books to control the evil tryng to destroy humanity (from what I remember been a while since I read them) a greater evil had to be unleashed which in turn destroyed the galaxy and everything in it.

I spent a lot of money on this game and for what... there's no point in me going back to ME1 and playing through again like I was going to, The ending won't change. I have never been so disappointed, I don't know what I'm more angry about, the ending or the money I spent buying this game. I really do hope Bioware sort this out. if they did it would probably cost about £10 (don't know the equivalent dollars) as if we haven't spent enough on previous DLC (only LotSB was worth the money)

I think a lot of us may be let down by our own expectatios. We all wanted a happy ending, and we get one that sucks. They could at least have left the relays intact that way they could have continued the series in other forms, stories from different species etc. Now the only thing they can do is prequels which we would like to see anyway but that's not what the fans want. The things that made us love this series have been taken away.

I have to agree that Shepard and Tali on Rannoch is a more fitting 'ending'.

I've played through Mass Effect 2 over 5 times to do every choice possible and see how this would change the rest of the game and Mass Effect 3. Now after my second Mass Effect 3 playthrough I see that everything you do does not matter. No Replay value.

I was so forward to replaying ME3 with my other Sheps untill THAT ending.
It's such a shame, there is just no incentive for me to play again when I know that most of the 3 endings end with relays gone, shepard dead(unless you can get 4000EMS and you get the single breath),Normandy crash lands, your friends either die or are stuck on planet lost ect...

I was planning on starting another as a vanguard straight after I finished but the ending crushed my soul. I haven't touched the game for a week.

In my first playthrough, Wrex was dead.

I'm going to replay just to see him alive. However, with those two characters combined I will have seen all variables. No desire to play through all 8 of my Sheps.

EDIT: And you're some kind of BOSS for counting 16 endings. I counted one, with 3 different colors and 3 different Big Ben collapses.

The whole Normandy and half a breath thing is so confusing I'm not even counting those.

It's really sad when I think about it. I have done all these different playthroughs of ME1 and ME2 to create different characters with different stories that I could import to ME3 and see how it all plays out differently for them. But with the ending they have now they have completely taken that urge to replay away. What's the point of introducing and developing a feature where you can import saved games to have your decisions carry forward only to make it all completely pointess in the end? I just don't get it!

I will have another go if/when they bother to fix the import **** up. But I doubt I'll bother with my 3rd and 4th saves.

Not only doesn't it have replay value but it also takes it away from the prior installments. At least for me.

Same here, cant replay any game in the series. It really is depressing.
There are people that mostly care about gameplay, action scenes, thus they can replay the game, enjoying its mechanics is sufficient for them.

But on the other side, there is a majority of people (an endangered species called rpg players) who plays a game for story, characters and emotional bond with a universe. For whom gameplay is secondary.
This second category just cant replay the series seeing that, in the end, all they cared about was crushed by  ploteholes and bad writting. It is that simple.

It's a videogame, a RPG, I'm the main character, and in the end I'm forced to give up on all my beliefs, all what I was for three games, and accept some god child truth even if he doesnt make any sense. I'm even forced to turn the galaxy into a giant mess that wipe out the whole ME lore.

Why in hell would somebody want to relive that?

And then the last ten minutes happened. I really wish the game had ended with Anderson and Shepard sitting on the Citadel, staring out at Earth. Just slap on some resolution to that, have the Crucible just be a weapon that kills the Reapers, and let us deal with the sacrifices we made; not the ones you force us to make. If that had happened, I'd have given this game a 10/10, if a bit biased in my scoring.

Yes, that's the meaning of bittersweet. You have to see Anderson and Shepard departing and never enjoying the outcome of their efforts, and THEN the different outcomes of your actions.

We see the Crucible smashing the Reapers and Earth Retaken, and a funeral that show show how the people you affect through the game react.

Who wouldn't buy DLCs of Retake Thessia, Retake Palaven, and any other after after-battle in the war with reapers?

I had the same feeling of not wanting to play through this game again, and it was really heart breaking. This was the one game I was looking forward to more than anything this year, and after the ending, I kind of just sat there looking at the screen.

I felt...betrayed. Like all these decisions I've made, all these choices, and at the end, some "kid" basically tells me I'm SOL no matter what decision I make, and I'm just gonna take it? Indeed, the ending left a sour taste in my mouth.

But alas, I still love this series as a whole. I don't think I've ever played a better game then Mass Effect, and probably, just for that reason, I'd give this game another go.

I haven't deleted the games from my PC yet. Doubt i'll replay though unless they do something about ending.

Same.

Playing for 70 hours to make things complete, just to see that nothing matters and I'll have to push one of 3 buttons everytime, and have 3 ways of reaching the same ONE outcome (Reapers stop harvest, Mass Relays destroyed, Shepard dead) isn't compelling at all. And it's SO OBVIOUS that they can't say they never foresaw this consequence. I honestly was holding my copy because I know sooner or later they will have to be forced for financial reasons to correct it, but now I'm having second thoughts in returning it to make a point.

I agree with the OP. Though I believe there are only 3 different color coded endings with miniscule differences between them. All equally unflattering and replayability breaking.

I think it has replay value. I beat it once, already have two new play throughs going, and another in ME2 that I intend to port in. There are so many opportunities to see different things occur during the game depending on choices made throughout the series. Even as I am replaying now, I keep seeing new insights into just how well this game series was written.
