No luck it being any different than it has been.
I have tried tweaking my network settings, opening ports etc., but nothing has had any real effect.
Managed to complete one match out of about 6-7 tries.

Any suggestions what settings I could work with? Whether game or OS?
I'm running Vista 32bit.

Reason I'm asking is that I'm trying it completely blind, yes read some suggestions already, whether it has been from these forums or otherwise, but haven't found any, that would actually work so far.

Nothing effects this. I've tried everything. Sometimes I have no problems, sometimes I can't finish a single game. Mainly happens after around Wave 6.

Bumping for justice.

It rarely happens to me since my internet is very reliable, but I have encountered this a couple of times, once on wave 9, and it is INFURIATING. You could easily render 20 minutes of playtime wasted with this issue.

Please address this. I know you're trying to dissuade people from quiting part way through a match, but there must be a way to distinguish between a disconnect and a ragequit.

Only 20 minutes wasted? :)
Perhaps on one match, but if you encounter this all the time, you can easily say hours of wasted playing time.

The thing is, MP isn't usually my cup of tea (well, coffee...) in an SP oriented game, but I do enjoy MP in ME3, when it decides to work, that is. It is a real shame that it doesn't work most of time and I'm "happy" to just complete one match.

Makes advancing and buying new stuff really, really difficult, because of disconnects and also for the fact that there is no point even trying to play a match. I usually give up after 5-10 tries, quit the game and try again later. Usually even this doesn't make a difference though, so maybe if I'm lucky enough, I can complete 3 matches a day.

I have noticed though, when I host a private match, just for soloing purposes, it hasn't disconnected me yet. Mind you, I can't get that far, because either my skills or weapons aren't good enough to survive that long, so don't really know if it is a good reference point or not. Then again, trying to join or host a public game, I can get disconnected after 5-10 seconds.

For now the best solution for you is to host a match yourself.

The netcode in this game is unfortunately very poorly done, anyone with poor pings or have lag spikes are subject to massive de-syncing issues. This can range from random bugs where your floating or bugged in various places in the map or even a full blown disconnect.

If you have a quality internet connection then you'll almost never has these problems, but it sounds like your internet quality isn't that great, so hosting yourself may be beneficial, though you will however give a poor game to your team mates.

PS, its unlikely, but possible that something else is interfering with your game if your internet is actually alright, perhaps you have alot of running processes on your PC, something or someone leeching your internet bandwidth, crap antivirus etc etc..

I dont think i have ever Crashed in multiplayer but i have encountered missions where Wierd things happen to damage and powers.

just today i was playing and a husk snuck up behind me. it apeared to be swinging at me but i was taking no damage. i tried shooting at it and every time i shot it's health would reset. additionally none of my powere were working at this point either. so npc's appeared to be moving around normally but noone could do any damage to anything. eventually i just quit since the game was unplayable at this point,

Greyze2k, while I think your comments about quality of connection and other interference are valid, I don't see these affecting everyone who have these disconnection problems.

I think some people posted their internet speeds in another topic, and those speeds were absolutely fine. Over 20Mbps etc.

I suppose mine isn't the fastest one out there, averaging around 6.5-8Mbps, but still, I haven't had any problems with any other games or applications.

Also, related to background interference, I have exactly same things running in the background, playing different games, whether MMORPGs or bought ones, and haven't encountered any of these issues prior to ME3s' MP. No problems with SP though, not with connecting to servers or anything, just with MP.

Thanks Greyz, but I am sure it is not my internet connection that is the problem. Like masser (and others) said I don't have the problem in any other online games.

And I would gladly host games for people.. if I could get them to join my room.

The multiplayer is terrible. I've got a PC, and I hate seeing the console method of hosting for multiplayer instead of dedicated servers. It means that if some guy in Uzbekistan is the host your game is going to lag to high heaven. Awful awful awful.

Oh, and unlocking upgrades is garbage. I get to unlock the ability to change the colors on my uniform??? Um... how about that assault rifle I keep hoping and praying for? No?

I haven't played the multiplayer since I got the game. What a waste.

Highly irritated. No problems until recently. Must have spent 2 hours playing with only 1 game completed.

Computer's directly plugged into router. Also started streaming music on a laptop just to check my own connectivity. Whether or not I hosted or joined a game, I'd get dropped at some point, sometimes within the first wave, sometimes right before extraction (but the music would never stop!) I know for sure it's not my own connectivity. Grrrr.

PS: I sincerely apologize to any of my teammates I left stranded.

Another update.
I shouldn't probably be saying this, because I might jinx it, but... Disabling UPnP has worked for me. I managed to complete 6 matches in a row without any problems, didn't try any further, because don't have the time at the moment.

Anyway, give that a go everyone, disable UPnP from your services and try if that solves it.

(Did it stay fixed? Or did you just hit a lucky streak).

UPnP was already disabled on my computer. :?

It's happened a couple of times tonight for me as well. I was just in a Silver game with 3 strangers of top-notch quality and we were acing it. Then wave 10 began, we got the objective to kill 4 enemies and after getting the first one down I lost connection. It's the same as I'd experienced earlier (although that wasn't on wave 10 at least), getting an error message about losing connection (I immediately tabbed out and checked, opened Firefox etc. and no problems), then I'm taken to the main menu where it gives me another Error screen, a kind of unique one with a different visual style from the rest of the game (maybe a default Origin screen?) in which it repeats not being able to connect to the EA servers or some such.

I feel bad about leaving my comrades-in-arms and (admittedly) even worse about losing out on the credits :-/

I'm pretty clueless regarding technical stuff like UPnP mentioned above, but I figure it should be alright since I'm typically able to play without problems?

Really hoping they can implement something to keep track of your earned XP and credits during a match. Losing it all like that is just... awful.

Edit: maybe this post doesn't belong here as it's not a consistent problem for me, but this thread looked so well-worded and stuff :-P I feel bad for those of you who have it much worse than me!

CalmlyLit, yes it has been working fine now, after I disabled it. I haven't disconnected once, and have played quite a few matches. I'd say about 15 in total now in different sessions, so it wasn't just one day.

Shame it can't help you though, because I know how frustrating it is, when you can't complete even one match.

Ajensis, not knowing what your OS is, I'm just going to say what you do if you have Vista, and most likely will work with with 7 as well, if you are using Mac, not sure.

You go to your start menu and type in the search box, services.msc and press enter. A list of services should come up. Scroll down this list and find UPnP from it. Next, either double-click or right click on it and choose properties.

From the drop-down menu there, choose disable and then click ok. I'm not sure if it does, but if it asks you to restart your computer after this, do that, and then give the MP a go.

I'm with Masser - an EA rep told me to disable UPnP in my modems settings when I complained about the same problem as the OP, only about 1 in five or six games would actually complete. Now I've played about 20 with no dropout.

Ahh thank you! I put it on the front page, hopefully more people can confirm it works for them. I am glad you got it working for yourself. :D

Just wanted to chime in and say I have the exact same problem, i.e. a good internet connection, but still practically always disconnecting around 20mins in a match. I've tried Masserfasser's solution and played 4 games. So far so good, but I'll update when I get some more test runs to see if it wasn't just a lucky streak.

Thanks CalmlyLit :)
Hopefully others get some help and can enjoy the game.

Glad to hear that it works for you funmachine..
On my part, still no disconnects. Have played every day without problems.

I'm sorry to report that Masserfasser's solution hasn't worked for me. Got another random disconnect today (during wave 10 AAARGH) even though I had no lag problems whatsoever. I played another match with the same group of people before that, and it went just fine. The randomness of these disconnects is really confusing, and I hope someone at Bioware will look into it...

That's a shame funmachine. Mine is still ok, so it seems to have fixed it for me.

I do wonder though, are there any common factors here, that we could think of?
Have you or CalmlyLit opened the ports, for example?
I did that prior disabling UPnP, and even though it didn't help at that time, maybe in conjunction with disabling UPnP, it worked?

Just an idea, might be worth while to try, if you haven't already. Also, I remember you, CalmlyLit, mentioned that your UPnP was already disabled. Have you tried enabling it and/or disabling it or some other combination?

Like said, I'm also trying to think of any common factors/reasons as to why these disconnects happen. It could be a hardware thing, but I think that most likely it could be a software/settings/options related.

Obviously the main problem lies with Bioware, but in the mean time, if we can come up with universally working solution, we can help a lot of people and perhaps even get Bioware to implement a working fix sooner.
