A lot of the great moments have already been mentioned like Thane's prayer, Mordin's last song, showdown on Rannoch and the teenager who lost her parents. Another one I got was when arriving on the citadel post reaper I realised that everybody who had been there were likely dead. Man that was a tough thought even though it wasn't shown in any way but how could they have survived.

The part of the game that touched me the most was the soldiers dying on Thessia.......Near they end they call out wondering if Shepard made it, wondering if their sacrifice was not meaningless, that they had contributed to save their homeworld........ only to never know and die.....

The child like hope in their voices tore me up.

The dark reprise of Mordin's "Scientist Salarian" song nearly made me cry.

First time for a video game to strike that kind of chord...

What really got to me was when thane died, you went to Huerta memorial and you more or less watched him die..damn. Though this game is full of emotional parts

I started crying as early as Kaidan getting hit by the shuttle, which surprised me honestly. Here was a character I didn't particularly care about until I actually talked to him in ME1. Since my Shepard is a biotic as well they could relate to each other, I grew to accept him.

I didn't have the courage to go visit Thane and I actually waited until his name showed up on the memorial in the Normandy. Thane is one of my favorite characters, and seeing him get stabbed already hurt me enough. I regret not facing him in his final hours, but as I was going through a similar situation in real life (with my grandmother) I just couldn't.

Grunt, Charr, Mordin, and Legion all tore at my heart strings but the real killer was Thessia. Maybe it's because my Shepard romanced Liara or the fact that I've been wanting to see Thessia since hearing about it so much in ME2 that got to me. Seeing it get destroyed, hearing all those who sacrificed themselves for Shepard who knew little to nothing about the crucible/catalyst in the first place. I walked my Shepard up to her cabin and cried for a good 15 minutes, like I was breaking down for her. Before I had the stomach to finally check on Liara, that memory stuck with me the most. It was powerful and I'm glad that Shepard after 3 games finally showed emotion.

The ending, as stated, was just salt on the wound.

For me it was a datapad I found in London, right when you walk around and say good bye to everyone else. The fire department couldn't control the fires anymore and the reapers were attacking them so they were going to use the fire trucks to distract them, volunteers only. I don't remember exactly what it said right now, but I was crying reading that.

(Figured most of you have finished the game, but you never know...)

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned more often in this thread—people seem to have more sympathy for Legion than for Tali, but I found her death scene far more heart-wrenching. At that point in the game (especially if you've been playing Paragon), Tali has really come around to Shepard's way of thinking about the Geth and their right to exist. She doesn't want the Geth to be destroyed, and she knows her own people are signing their own death warrant as Legion tries to save his own race by upgrading them. She literally pleads with him to stop—she doesn't attack him. I think what got me about this whole scene is that she's essentially torn, and she knows it's her own people's blind avarice towards the Geth that is getting them killed.

Anyway, after the cinematic of the Geth ships annihilating the Quarian fleet, the scene cuts to a shot of flaming debris falling through Rannoch's sky, and pans out until you see Tali staring up at it. Over the music, you can hear the terrified radio chatter of the fleet's remaining vessels, and Tali's sobs of horror, despair, and disbelief.

That moment was probably the saddest moment in the game for me. Again, it's not so much to do with the visuals, as much as the emotional context of the character. Watching your entire race burning up in the atmosphere of the homeworld they longed so much to return to, and knowing that it was their own fault in the end. Hell...I'd commit suicide after something like that.

Well in my game I saved both the Geth and the Quarrian so Legion does sacrifice himself for his people but Tali stays and joined me on the Normandy and the Geth helped their creator to rebuild their home on Rannoch.

Legion "death" was very sad indeed... I liked the "guy".

This hit me hardest because I didn't really expect it, even more so than Thane or Mordin.  I really thought I'd have some dialogue interrupt that I could yell at the quarians and get them to back down, but it just played out.  Then Tali killed herself and I couldn't saved her.  I lost it.  I couldn't even regain my compsure for another 20-30 minutes.

Charr's last words to his wife were one of those random things that made me cry. Sure, Mordin's death made me cry, and so did Thane's, but I honestly didn't see it coming when the asari played the message.

This. Right there. This was THE defining moment of ME3 for me. People want to call ME3 art? (not starting that debate, just making a comment!) This moment should be the epitome of their argument. I'm a guy, and I cried at that scene. It was just so tragic, yet so powerful....

I played through without walk throughs so I lost a few along the way through ME 2. Mordin died on the Collector base and was replaced by a charming fellow named Padok Wiks. Had some wonderful dialogue with Eve and had a very emotional death scene in place of Mordin. another character who died against the Collectors was Thane. In his stead during Kai Lengs assassination attempt on The Salarian council member was Captain KIrrahe who dies during the attempt. Instant rage tears.

I dont want to wreck it for people that haven't heard it yet, but you need to listen to the Asari PTSD victim's story in the hospital. Its so grim and tragic

Goes "up to eleven" when you talk to Joker after Thessia and you piece together there is a very high chance his sister was the same girl the Asari PTSD victim was talking about.

All right, I'm getting the impression from this thread that about 80% of the people who played the game either got peace between the Quarians and Geth or chose the Geth.

To those people, watch this:

And then tell me you don't feel like crap.

Charr's poem almost moved me to tears, not even Mordin's and Legion's death did that for me. Never cared much about Thane.

Saddest moment is undoubtedly the ending. Lets say the last 10 minutes or so. Made me cry in vain.

For me it was the ending of the Thessia mission, after Kai Leng escapes with the catalyst. Particularly when a couple of Reapers arrive in the distance, plus there are several pieces of dialogue, both still on Thessia and immediately after returning to the Normandy, which underlined the feeling of helplessness, of losing another major homeworld, of "we were so close".

I whispered the end of Mordin's song, sniffled when Thane prayed for me, and teared up when Liara told me what she would put about me in the time capsule. She wasn't my love interest, but Liara was definitely my BFF. Then that last chat with her where she puts her head on your shoulder as the horizon comes for you...jeez Bioware, fix the ending! I want to play this again SO badly! ="|

For me, I was enjoying the game but didn't feel 100% engaged until the moment on Thessia when you fail to get the files, and watch helplessly as Reapers land destroying the Asari you've been on comms with. That whole level was a slow realization for me, of the entire scope of destruction the Reapers were bringing. That moment of failure seemed so large in scale and watching Shepard take that in I was like, "dude, I know".

For me, Mordin's death scene was the saddest moment, the most powerful moment.
