While we appreciate that you're having problems...a bit more details about what you've tried and haven't tried as per the MANY threads on the subject would be helpful so we can track down the issues.
For example, have you gone through the uninstall process and done the full remove toolset and SQL uninstall, gone through your add/remove programs and services and made sure there's no reference to SQL anywhere, and then tried a full reinstall? That has solved probably 3/4 of the "Unable to connect to database" issues that folks are seeing.
If you HAVE done that, then you may be one of the folks that unfortunately has to wait for a patch.

When are you having the problem?
Is the problem during installation? If you are running Vista try right clicking and choosing "Run as administrator" to launch the installer.
If you are running XP try making sure you have service pack 3 installed.
You can DL is from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en
Don't worry about the IT bit, it's safe for you to use.

sorry for the freak out but it's been hard for me to get this to work on my ordinary computer. i got it to work on this computer now simply by changing the security settings in the dragon age folder and then using the cmd.exe thing. perhaps i can solve the other one later.
