How ME3 Should Have Ended.

My Shepard, saving the universe from the Reaper threat, would have settled down with his LI Tali. Her and I would have met up with the rest of the crew in Rio to meet Jacob and Garrus for a beer. Everyone seemed to owe me a drink, so I thought it was only fair to oblige. And at the end, Tali and I would sail away, watching the sunset together, knowing that all was right with the universe.
Mayhaps a little cheesy, but perhaps you can do better.

I too am interested in hearing how "you" would have written the ending(s) if you were responsible for writing the ending for ME3.
p/s: I hate fairy-tale ending, especially after all that has transpired. A fairy-tale ending would be an EPIC fail.

Well obviously mine isn't for everyone, but I just liked the idea of being able to sail away and leave the military past behind me. After all, I'm going to be famous now, might as well get out of the spotlight so I can live relatively normal life, now that we are at peace.

It was hopeless, Shepard realized.
All that planning, all that fighting, and all of that mining had been for nothing. The Reapers had won. She didn’t know where the rest of the squad was, they had been dragged off by the husks to someplace horrible. The combined ships of every fleet in the galaxy: turians, hanar, geth, volus, quarians, and humanity were raining down upon earth; leaving vast craters on the surface.
All was lost.
But then, Shepard heard it. She heard a voice.
Look at this..
Could it be? Could it truly be him?
Saving Earth by my lonesome, heavy risk…
It was!
But the prize
Jacob Taylor left a blazing trail as he entered Earth’s atmosphere, smashing through Reapers just as Sovereign had smashed through the Citadel fleet years ago. Their indestructible armor, as it turned out, could not withstand the direct power of the Good Stuff. The Reapers unused to such displays of power began freaking out. Their cold, emotionless logic based minds unable to handle something so illogically awesome.
So they exploded. Every single one of them, except for one: Harbinger.
Harbinger. Clad in his indestructible Reaper King armor, composed of a thousand different screaming corpses each from a species that came from a cycle before. Clasped in each of his tentacles was a sword, a sword created from the blood and tears of the species that were not good enough to have ascended to Reaperhood. Harbinger was prepared for battle; a battle that would be so epic that it would shake the galaxy to its core, there would be no assuming control. Not this time.
Harbinger was going to direct this ass whupping personally.
But Jacob was bored. Bored of the Reapers, especially of Harbinger whose attempts at being badass had grown rather tiring. So Jacob did it.
Jacob destroyed Harbinger with pure apathy.
Jacob, having singlehandedly saved the galaxy slowly descended to Earth and animals, plants, and people came back to life as his divine presence, and within a matter of minutes, Earth was restored to its former glory.
I can see it. Jacob has a kid on the way. That can bring out unimaginable powers of will. ;P

Best ending:
The Crucible explodes all the mass relays and reapers along with it. And in the end, Shepard would have crawled out of the rubble just in time for the very few survivors to see him make the same smile he made after defeating Sovereign and telling TIM to go to hell. Victory achieved at great cost. Roll credits with cut scenes showing the aftermath. Follow up with Stargazer telling a story.
Middle Ending:
The one we got. All 3 ending were functionally the same ending
Worst ending:
Shepard fails to get to the Citadel, and it is clear that the Reapers are going to eventually win and all advanced life will be extinguished. Shepard is forced to retreat. With what remaining time there is left, Shepard will stash Liara's data modules with the plans for the Crucible. Maybe Shepard goes into stasis to become the Javik of this cycle.
What do you think?

Shepard is about to choose the destroy option (but honestly this could work for all endings) when he hears a voice behind him:
"Shepard, stop!"
Shepard turns around to see Anderson, barely alive, limping towards him.
"Anderson! What are you doing?"
"Get out of here Shepard, I'm the one pulling the trigger here."
"Anderson..."
"Go Shepard. I don't have much left in me, and my family already died minutes after Earth was attacked. "
"... Anderson, I'm sor-"
You've done enough Shepard; you don't have to go down with the ship. The galaxy will need your help to rebuild."
*Anderson tosses Shepard TIM's omni-tool, which Shepard uses in some sort of technilogical mo-jo to contact the Normandy.*
"Joker, this is Shepard, do you read me?"
"Shepard?! We thought you didn't make it! Hackett's already ordered a full retreat, and I already picked up *the two squad members that were with you*; we were about to leave Earth for dead!"
"I'm near the back of the Crucible Joker, I need an evac!"
"It'll be pretty messy, but I'll do my best; hang tight!"
Anderson groans, "Let's hope he gets here soon Shepard; I'm bleeding out fast."
*CUE SHIP "DRIVING" LEVEL where you have to navigate the Reaper battlefield. You have a time limit before Anderson bleeds out and Shepard has to pick up the gun and proceed as normal.*
The Normandy then picks Shepard up, and after they fly away, Anderson stands up and starts shooting the power cell. The ending proceeds as normal, but with Shepard getting out of his shuttle as well. He puts an arm around his LI and they stare into the sunset.
Of course, I would at least hope they would have gotten rescued so Tali and I could get to work on our house. >_<

1) The Illusive Man is right. You can control the Reapers. Humanity ascends to the top of the galactic food chain, only to discover that this happens once every million cycles. Humanity effectively assumes the role of the Reapers, responsible for periodically imposing order by force upon a chaotic universe for the next million cycles.
1a) The Catalyst causes Shepard to ascend to a cosmic state higher than the Reapers, serving an even higher trillion-year cycle that periodically keeps the Reapers in check.
2) It turns out the Citadel is an anti-Reaper (starfish vs. squid!), a guardian of organic life, awakened by the Catalyst. It can single-handedly banish the Reapers back to dark space, just as it does every cycle (it just awakened too late last time to save the Protheans, but it's why the younger races survived into this cycle).
3) Shepard fails, but for some reason the Reapers leave the galaxy anyway, presumably because whatever mysterious task they were doing has been adequately completed for this cycle.
4) Shepard becomes the Catalyst, the representative of organic life in this cycle and the power source that awakens the Crucible. He saves the galaxy, but his life energy is spent in the effort. Or, one of his Companions serves as the Catalyst. Whether you destroy all the Reapers or just save Earth and weaken them would depend on how strong your fleet is.
5) The ending we saw was part of Sovereign's attempted indoctrination projection into Shepard's mind. He shakes the effect just in time, jumps up to the Citadel and turns on the Catalyst.

Do we really doubt that the Salarians and the Asaris never bothered studying the mass relays? It's only a matter of time before they can start reconnecting the galaxy. But while that's happening a recent insurgent effort is trying to stop the efforts of humanity to reconnect with the other races.
Cerberus is back...
Now, a new hero rises to meet the threat. Do they hail from Earth? or perhaps Palaven. Maybe even Thessia. The choice is yours. To reestablish the galactic alliance you must discover where this new threat originates and you must destroy it.
Mass Effect 4.
have fun.

I got the ending scene on both choices with the old dude and the kid and the planet in the sky. So it seems that the "best" ending is available to all three choices.
I also only had about 3500 EMS but the bar was maxed out. So I don't think the 4000/5000 thing is accurate. Unless there's a factor after the launch of the final mission line that boosts it.
The endings themselves seem to imply more than they actually show.
Example, the sky in the planet in the ending is the same as the planet the Normandy landed on. So it's possible that if Shepard survives, he wound up there, reunited with his love interest, and the kid is their grandkid.

Stranded? The entire economy is destroyed without the Relays. It's as though the Reapers won anyway!

After being pinned with a second Star of Terra, He'd go on to be promoted to Captain (of the Normandy, obviously) with Jack as his XO (since Ashley turned into SUCH a ****) keeping peace with piracy abounding after the war ended.
Wold you care to know what happens to the rest of my squad? lol

So here's how I would have done it: Epic CGI scenes showing the fate of the galaxy, and text or voiceover with high quality art entailing what happens with each and every member of Shepard's crew
Paragon:
1. Strong Paragon Playthrough: Shepard destroys the Reapers, along with the Relays, Edi, and Geth, but Shepard lives. Shepards actions has brought a temporary but long standing peace where everyone begins the process of rebuilding, but with the relays destroyed it will take lifetimes to recover from the damage and we are left unsure if the galactic civilization will ever reach it's pinnacle. Shepard and crew go their separate ways to help rebuild and recover, but live happily ever after for the most part.
2. Weak Paragon Playthrough: Shepard destroys the Reapers, along with the Relays, Edi, and Geth, but Shepard lives. Despite Shepard's best efforts, even with the Reapers dead, war between the other galactic civilizations looms on the horizon. Shepard and crew continue to work together in what seems to be a never ending struggle to maintain peace.
3. Ultimate sacrifice: Shepard sacrifices his/her life for the greater good. This action destroys the Reapers but spares the Relays, Edi, and the geth. Which in turn unites all the galactic civilizations into a new golden age. The Krogan and Tuarians forge together to become a galactic police force under the Council. The Quarians and Geth work and live together becoming the pinnacle of a technological civilization and help others rebuild and advance. The Human and Asari work together as the strongest voices on the Council ensuring continued peace and prosperity. Shepard's crew mourns his/her loss, but in the end go on to live happy lives.
Neutral:
1. The games current ending
Renegade:
1. Strong Renegade Playthrough: Shepard destroys the Reapers, along with the Relays, Edi, and Geth, but Shepard lives. Shepard becomes Emperor over the galactic civilizations ruling for many years and maintaining peace under an iron fist. Eventually Shepard is assassinated and the Council is restored, but old conflicts and wars soon begin to arise. Shepard's crew becomes fractured. Some remaining loyal to him/her, and other going on join the fight against him/her.
2. Weak Renegade Playthrough: Shepard destroys the Reapers, along with the Relays, Edi, and Geth, but Shepard lives. Despite Shepard destroying the Reapers many still begrudge him/her for past actions and wars soon break out amongst the different galactic civilizations. Shepard becomes the leader of the Human military forces and/or Cerberus, waging what seems to be a never ending war for Human dominance and security. Shepard's crew becomes fractured. Some happily remain with him/her, while others cannot reconcile Shepard's past actions and decide to go their own way.
3. Ultimate Sacrifice: Shepard sacrifices his/her life to take control / become the Reapers. This spares the Relays, Edi, and Geth. Using the Reapers Shepard forces the galactic civilizations into peace, instantly crushing anyone that would go against his/her will. However this does lead to a golden age peace for many civilizations. The Turians and Krogan rebel against the Shepard/Reapers, forcing him/her to wipe the Krogan out and bring the Turians to brink of extinction. The Geth leave the Quarians to worship and serve the Shepard/Reapers. The Quarians retake their homeworld and happily begin the slow process of rebuilding and re-adapting to their home. The Asari and Humans find peace under the Shepard/Reapers and expand their civilizations. Shepard's crew has a mixed reaction. Some mourn him/her as dead while others accept that he/she has transcended into something greater. They all go their separate ways, some finding peace and living a long life while others meet violent ends.
Of course this is just my opinion on how things should have been and I've probably over though it, but based off the number of these types of forum threads it's clear Bioware definitely botched the end. The biggest draw to this game was you got make choices that made actual impacts on the universe, and that was great. It made the games great... right up until the end where they decided to throw that winning formula out the window.

Shepard would look "down" at society from wherever the Control ending takes you. She would have visions of meeting Thane, her true love, across the great sea of information (she is a superpowerful AI now after all, due to controlling synthetics).

seriously I wanted the cliche ending beat the reapers live happily ever after with your LI become a legend reason being the whole reaper purpose bringing order to the chaos makes sense but it seemed that shepard had brought order to civilization he made peace with quarians/geth krogan/turian rachni/galaxy shepard killing the reapers gave civilization the chance to make their own future we deserve a new ending like that its bull**** after all of shepards hardwork he gets no happiness or at least we didnt get to see that they allow him to live for somereason
The Catalyst's ideas are flawed.
It says the created always rebel against the creators, but that's not always true. It was the Quarians who provoked the Geth after all. And the Catalyst's idea of races ascending is by processing them into giant machines that he has indoctrinated.
Also I actually think Control is the Paragon ending. I mean, look at it, destroy means killing EDI and the Geth, your friends, just to cause mass destruction and royally screw over a lot of people(the whole of the galaxy's fleets are in the Sol system. Without the Relays, they're stranded and possibly all killed if their ships get hit by the Crucible's blast)
While controlling the Reapers makes Shepard command them to retreat and leave. Presumably leaving everything functional so galactic society can continue with no more bloodshed.
Not to mention, for most of the Mass Effect series. Paragon and Renegade choices have been defined by color. Paragon = Blue, Renegade = Red. Switching it up right at the end is confusing to the player.

Sheppard manages to survive.
Normal or secretly 'Reaperized' himself.
option to return to the LI from 3, or move on and find a quiet place to himself.
Heroic Sacrifice
And of course, failure. Team hides data and clues, hope the next Galactic Civ manages to do better.
Sheppard (if LI is Liara or Shep is Male romantic with human female): LI pregnant
Otherwise, teammate survivors break into Cerberus lab to retrieve 'genetic material' in order to use in-vitro to carry on his name and genetic heritage.
Relays and reapers both offline, but scientists already taking them apart to rebuild and reconnect. Ships still function. Travel slow, but possible.
Reapers banished for another 50,000 years, though uncertain if they will stay away the full time due to the premature banishment.
Sheppard actually manages to build enough of a fleet and complete control over relays and manage to take the Reapers on. By the time the Reapers realize that the organics are winning, they are too spread out to make an effective counter-push. This ending would require having every ally possible.
Discovery that the reapers are an extra-galactic threat, and that the round trip to the other galaxy they harvest is 40,000 years, with 5,000 for each galaxy to be purged.

I would have had my Shepard tell the Catalyst to go screw itself then told Hackett to retreat past the relay and take all my allies with them. Then I would have forced the Citadel to self destruct, destroying Earth and all the Reapers simultaneously. Shepard dies sure but success is achieved without killing everyone through starvation.
Happy Ending:
My Shepard, through diplomatic and military actions, accrues enough allies to mount a serious resistance. He again tells the Catalyst to screw itself and causes the Citadel to self destruct but the Normandy is able to push past the Reaper fleet and rescue him, and they make a mad dash for the Relay that would lead out of the system. He settles on Rannach/Thessia with his LI Tali/Liara (depending on the playthrough) and tries his best to avoid the press.

Since I believe synthesis is the only true option, i will expand on this.
After Anderson passes away, Liara(My LI) came just as Shepard is about to black out ,she too is injured but she helped shepard stand up. At this time, Catalyst arrives giving Shepard 3 choices...
Shepard knows what he has to do, but Liara interrupts explaining she wants to be with Shepard forever, they share 1 last kiss in front of crucible beam(delete the London kiss scene and add it to the end basically), and some touching dialogue about love. They hold each other's hands as they both leap towards the beam, thus completing the synthesis...
Then you can show joker and EDI getting out, maybe also Tali and Garrus since I romanced Liara...
Although this is not a fairytale ending, I believe many will be happy if it actually went like this
...to be honest, I literally felt sick and depressed after the ending. Many have already expressed this...hope Bioware sees this.
