It is REALLY funny observing the optimism gap between the people who have and haven't finished the game

The game was amazing up to and including your last talk with Anderson.  It was damn near perfect. The game hit all the emotional peaks that it should have.  Just...amazing.

Everything that happened after was so bad it just...ruins it.

It would have been perfect, if like, the super weapon brodcast a signel that shut down reapers and like, depending on how you played the game, Shep either bleed out quietly on the citidel or was saved.

I mentioned it in another thread, but I absolutely loved the game. It tapped into that center which gave me joy just playing, which very few games have been able to do over the years. I stayed up well past midnight every night this week because I was hooked. Just one more mission, one more amazing setpiece in the backdrop of galactic war. They absolutely nailed the desperation of the Reaper invasion. They took you to all the places you wanted to visit (Rannoch, Thessia, etc). They took you back to many poignant locations from the past. They provided appropriate homage to all the characters from the past 2 games, and gave their narratives all necessary development up until the final conflict. The Cerberus/reaper-tech plot-line was a little predictable but definitely fit into within the character model of The Illusive Man. The plot was very linear but honestly I didn't care because it tied up so many loose ends appropriately. Up until the end I kept thinking how I couldn't wait to play it all over again.

Then the ending happened. And it robbed me of all that joy. And robbed me of any desire to replay the game.

You said it all brother, you said it all. AMAZING GAME, until the end.

The endings do suck but the part that really got me angry was the continuity errors. How and why did the Normandy go through a mass relay with my entire crew and why are the two squad mates i brought with me A)Not dead since the beam hit them or B) not at least alive on earth.

I was incredibly optimistic. I was in tears of joy about how amazing the game was, even up to the moment where Shepard and Anderson were watching the view. And then the little kid showed up and ruined everything from there on out.

I'm active on a couple of different forums and it's interesting to see how soulcrushingly bad the ending really is for a lot of people. Even if people don't tell them to expect ass at the end you can see how they go from "^.^; omg supah awzum" to "...I...I don't...I feel empty inside. Hug plz".

I was happy with the game, except for the ending and lack of romance.

Imagine if Shepard hit that console, and the Crucible-Citadel combo released a pulse that stunned the Reapers and knocked out their shields (like Sovereign) and the Sword fleet exterminated the Reapers (with a special scene showing Joker in the Normandy gut Harbinger with a Thanix shot). On the ground, the husks go catatonic and the Hammer forces move in and wipe them out. No Kid Architect, no illusions of choice.

Bioware, would it have killed you to give us this?

I, too, was optimistic about the game. Enjoyed the hell out of it up until the end - then I get this "Catalyst" garbage dropped on me and have the entire series ruined for me.

To be honest, I already felt a little bit let down when I didn't get to confront TIM in person at the Cerberus HQ - that was anticlimactic as hell.

But the actual ending... wow. Five years of greatness, FUBAR in 15 minutes. It almost seems like BW meant to make the ending so incredibly awful.

I was one of those people. I was on teamspeak and a friend got on that had just finished it on the Xbox 360. I was on the last mission as he told me, "You're going to hate the ending". I brushed it aside thinking he was crazy, how could they screw this up. I thought he was just mad that Shepard died or something which I already prepared myself for.

Boy was I wrong.

Greatest game and Series I've ever played, spoiled in a ~5 minute cutscene.

loved the game up until the last 10 minutes.

just... terrible.

I have a friend playing the game right now and loving it so far, i'm anticipating his reaction to the end. but knowing him, it'll be the same as mine.

OP is right about the gap between people playing the game and those who've finished it. I purposely avoided forums or discussions regarding the game to avoid any spoilers. And just like everyone else, I brushed aside peoples comments regarding the end. It couldn't be that bad right?

Everything was fantastic. Each act added to the story and the outlook for victory at the end. Even the charge with a reaper shooting at you was well done. Imagine my dismay of the game continuing after I thought it would be over when Shepard took a seat next to a dying Anderson talking about how long it has been since they felt like they took a seat.

ditto.

Its like chasing a girl for 5 years, becoming friends, one drunken amazing night you are about to get it on and BAM! You find out your friend is a pre-op transexual.

Some people may find that metaphor rather crude, but I think it illustrates the fact is no matter how awesome something is, it just takes one IMPORTANT thing to color the impression of the entire thing.

Hence, if I have to take into account the current endings of ME3, I feel like an utter idiot for being such a fanboy.

Yes and some weird guys will find that "little surprise" fun.

Last night, I was on a high about the take out Cerberus before the big push. Told my husband he'd be an ME widower for another week because I had to play again. Planning on another vacation day from work ... totally hooked.

At 11 am this morning my heart broke. I cant even look at my XBox. What was the point?
