Which romance got the worst treatment in ME3? *SPOILERS*

I really felt bad for the Jacob romancers out there because I feel like they really got shafted.

I'm really glad to see so many people agreeing that Jacob got the worst treatment. I'd really loved both his character and his romance in ME2, but now I don't even know if I want to bother putting that Shepard through ME3.
Don't. Seriously. Either kill him off in the SM, or don't romance him at all. Or both. But there is no reason to subject yourself or your Shepard to the trashy way the writers treated his romance in ME3.
I was planning on replaying that Shepard's entire story from ME1 -> onward, so I might have her romance Garrus instead of Jacob this time around, since I know that romance gets its due. It sucks though, because I really felt that Jacob was the best match for my RenegadeShep.

I have one Shepard that left Kaidan for Jacob and I don't even know if I will import that one now. I wanted to see some conflict with it and now there is none.Mr. Big Pimpin wrote...
Jacob was always one of my least favourite characters, but even so, people who romanced him didn't deserve this.

*Puts hand on shoulder* I feel your pain. Believe me. I have no idea what my Jacobmancing Shepard is going to do now. She and Jacob were meant for one another....

Even if he wasn't the fan favourite, NO ONE deserved that.

1. Jacob
2. Thane
Jacob's was dumb, and Thane's was heart-crushing (and not in a good way). Jacob had a small fan base but... Still. I also find Thane's surprising because I remember hearing about how much work they put into every inch of him, as a new LI for FemShep and a bro for DudeShep. And while Jacob wasn't popular, Thane was popular with both LIs and "friends/bros".
Ultimately, Jacobs was the bottom line worst, but Thanes was the worst in proportion to his popularity and significance, AND second worst for the bottom line.
Frankly, FemShep got it bad in LI department, at least for ME3. /Maybe/ Kaidan, Jacob and Thane 'Mances are poor. Sam is nowhere near as "interactive/dialogue'd" as Cortez. Garrus only if ME2, but not too bad. The obvious redeemer is BWs favorite child;
To clarify, I don't begrudge DudeShep romances. Just wish BW had done better for /both/.
A thousand times, this.
I'm much more attached to my HaleShep than my MeerShep because of line delivery and the personality behind the person. Yet MeerShep seems to have the more involved and meaningful romances. Cortez has probably the best written character story for any non-squadmate-character in the game, then Sam is... I dunno, fun? She's not a bad character, she just pales in comparison. And her romance scene seems like the beginning of a porno, almost.
Then there's Jack and Miranda, both of whom get better treatment than Thane or Jacob. And while MeerShep gets Kaiden for once, Ash is still a no-go for HaleShep despite the constant gay-ish undertones in their conversations.
Romances are a very small part of this game. But they're still a part, and I only particularly care about my HaleShep's romance to begin with. But alas, her true meant-to-be is still straight, and that cute asari is as monotone as Legion. Liara has her moments (like that 'project'... d'awwww), but Ash knows deep down they're meant to be. Goddammit they're meant to be, I say!

I'm wondering if Jacob's is just buggy; when I searched the wikia, between his personal page and the romance page, one said that Jacob's romance could not be continued, while the other one mentioned specifically that if Jacob wasn't romanced, you'd get the baby daddy mention.
I'm a die-hard Thanemancer, and his made me... really depressed. I was one of the romancers who was okay with him dying, so long as he got a good death (which he did, imho), but his reasoning and attitude was just so off to me. Would it have killed the writers to keep him grounded for the sake of Kolyat and, idk, maybe functioning as Shepard's eyes and ears on the Citadel (I mean really, who better?) rather than 'derp I'm dying, well it was nice while it lasted'. The fact that there's so little difference in his final scene between romanced and non romanced was a little bit of a kick in the teeth, and he just came off as... kind of un-Thane like.
Really, at this point I just feel bad for anyone who preferred ME-2 only characters. I'm playing at the same time as my brother (Tali-mancer) and sister (Garrus-mancer) and the differences are pretty obvious.

I mean, he got with Miranda and Shepard in this context, Kasumi had a crush on him, even the Shadow Broker keeps creepy files of how good he looks shirtless... And he winds up with yet another chick. I'm impressed, yet annoyed. Damn you, Taylor. You and your abs.

It seems that the magical quote of: all LI's are getting an equal treatment and satisfying ending was really just that. Magical quote. I feel terrible for all LI's since even though they represent a small part of the game and story itself, they are important to those who chose to take a special liking to one or another character (namely LI's in this case).
But what happened in the case of Thane and Jacob... awful way to threat the characters, simply awful. In both their cases the player really has no choice, there is no decision to be made the outcome seems to be the same no matter what. That's the most disappointing element of their romance arcs.
Comparing one to another, Jacob fans got it far worse then those who romanced Thane. My sympathy to you guys, really he deserved better, they both did ( when it comes to their romances and not the friendship path ).
I've read many things about the endings. And I agree with what was said about them. But despite the outcome many of the LI's survive, a choice is given to you to save them by taking certain actions. Jacob and Thane fans don't even get that. Why Bioware?

Honestly, we as a fan base of the more minor characters obviously did not get our due diligence. The characters were so fleshed out in ME2 we either got spoiled or Bio obviously rushed the game. With the way the endings are... I'd say rushed.

I've been complaining about Jacks romance for 3 days but maybe you Jacob and Thane people have a point, least Jacks alive and my Shep did live... lol.
The possibility of Jack surviving and that last sudden gasp of air from a N7 chestplate is about the only thing that kept me from hurling a Xbox controller through my flatscreen. At least I know I might get to see my pretty tattooed biotic again.

Jacob, in this case, is the worst. I am pretty shocked that BW did this. As a Tali fan, I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see her face on a character model, but at least there was still an actual romance there.

My real life romance did... he won't stop chewing loudly during important dialogue... I may have to kill him.
^^This made me laugh.
On Topic: Jacob. Definitely. Especially because he said something along the paraphrased lines of: “I couldn't wait forever, Shepard.” Uh, yes you could, dummy. It was only six months or so, wasn't it? Lol gtfo Jacob.

Thane's death was never a matter of IF, it was a matter of WHEN.

He says that with proper treatment he could live for another several years when you first meet him in ME3. He hints that doctors were incorrect about severity of his condition (quote from memory: Doctor said I had three months. Nine months ago.)Several more years >>>> several more days. Also it gave hope to finally find a cure someday. But then that scene happened. >.< Heartbreaking and beautiful - yes, but I still would rather see him live. Especially since I'm all for Merge ending. I'm pretty sure that being part synthetic would have healed him.
But at least he and Shep ended up together (merge ending doesn't have breathing scene. Or there is and I should have played some MP to get more resources?).
I feel horrible about Jacob romance. I quite liked it in ME2 (not favourite but still better than Kaidan), but I'm not going to import this Shep now. No way I'm putting her through this hell. It's like, at first sight of trouble he readily jumps in bed with another woman >.< It's been just six months from the end of ME2! Only six freaking months!
Who thought it would be bittersweet ending? Where's the sweet part in this? Though the same question can be asked about all the endings. Can't find sweet part in them too. But that's offtopic.
