Liara,Thane, Jax's and Garrus are IMO the best of the entire series.

Edit but your not asking that, your asking for our opinion on what romance got the worst treatment lol ops... Well I would have to say Jacob (never really thought their would be anything long term with that LI)

I felt Thane's ME3 romance was the only one that wasn't bad. The rest except perhaps Garrus and Tali, look to be terrible because of how little time you have with them in ME3.

Thane's death was never a matter of IF, it was a matter of WHEN.

My heart goes out to people that romanced him in ME2, but I have to wonder why you thought there would be any other outcome...

Jacob, in this case, is the worst. I am pretty shocked that BW did this. As a Tali fan, I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see her face on a character model, but at least there was still an actual romance there.

The anger isn't stemming from his death. It's the fact that his dialog barely changes if you romanced him, and there is literally no mention of him afterwards by anyone. The Renegade Interrupt when fighting Kai Leng is the only time anyone even says his name again. Garrus even stands in front of the memorial right after the mission, and talks about how hard a day it was because you almost had to shoot the VS, wondering if you miss whoever died on Virmire and ignoring the new name on the wall.

I didn't even think about the Tali photo, though. I admit that was a pretty cheap move, and I'm still not sure why they did it that way. Add in her possible suicide, and my heart goes out to Talimancers. The ME2 characters get the worst of it, but you guys didn't exactly escape the realm of disappointment either.

I think Jacob wins this one, hands down. He's got a new gal and a baby on the way, so thanks but no thanks, Shep.

At least Thane's situation was telegraphed pretty clearly in ME2.

Agreed. Jacob's is completely out of line with his character in ME2.

Jacob was always one of my least favourite characters, but even so, people who romanced him didn't deserve this.

I have one Shepard that left Kaidan for Jacob and I don't even know if I will import that one now.  I wanted to see some conflict with it and now there is none.

In a dark ironic sense, that's kind of karma right there.

But yeah, Jacob got royally screwed over. Since I don't really play femshep, it's not horrible for me, but it's still no excuse for Bioware to do it. It's total hack work.

To all people who say about Jacob's kid and wife, it's actually not a surprise because he said himself in ME2 that he has a kid. So it happened before he romanced Shepard.

No he didn't. When Shep asked about any family. Jacob mentioned that he was an only child.

From what I hear about Jacob's, it's pretty bad.

Thane, on the one hand, the plot to his romance conclusion isn't bad. We have been warned since meeting him that he was a dying man, so it should come as no surprise (if a frustrating one) that he would die.

What bothers me is he doesn't seem to be anything like Thane at all. I don't know if it is the way the lines were written, or the voice actor's performance, but it just fell completely flat to me. The reunion didn't feel anything like the romance in ME. I can't put my finger on what the real issue is there.

I ws looking fotward to Sam Traynor's romance; she seems so fun and sweet, but that romance feels incredibly tacked on. Also, I can see Shepard wearing lingerie in the shower, in keeping with the pg 13 aspect of the romance scenes. But to be able to wear a hoodie in the shower? CMON. That's just craptastic.

This right here.

I don't know why people assume we are upset because we couldn't save him. That isn't the reason, and If you bothered to do his romance you would know exactly why we are upset. There was very little dialouge, and what there is doesn't seem to change much between a romanced Thane and a non romance. He's never mentioned again by anyone. He's completely forgotten. We don't even get a paramour achievement for the romance.

I will say that Jacob probably got it the worst, but not by much.

I sympathize for Jacob's fans. However, if Shep did not romance Jacob, his character progression is quite good, IMO.

The worst romance, imo they are in this order:
1- Jacob
2- Thane
3- Jack
4- Miranda

Funny that they are the romanceable characters sidelined in ME3.

I think that's true of all the ME2-only romanceable characters. I actually felt a burst of pride for Jack, I worried over Miranda, I felt happiness that Jacob was able to find a spot of brightness in such terrible times. But I feel for the romancers because yes, I think we deserved more (I'm a Thanemancer). I feel the charactersations were handled horrifically in that sense.

Considering your LI pretty much gets stranded in the middle of nowhere away from Shepard, I'd say pretty much every LI got a terrible conclusion in ME3.

Jacob and Thane definitely seemed to get the short end of the stick on this. I romanced Kelly and honestly I was just happy to see that she got some scenes and she did not get forgotten or left out.

Jacob's romance was the worst, followed by Thane's.  Though Thane's romance ending the way it did was to be expected.

Personally, I was extremely disappointed with Tali's romance. With how you, again, don't get to see her face in person, that and after you finish romancing her for the final scene for it really is that they kiss, screen goes black, and then you wake up in bed with her putting her mask back on. You do get a pic from her, of her without her armor on, but it's extremely disappointing and a generic model pic touched up a bit so that she has 3 fingers. Very disappointing.

Jacob for sure. But Thane gets runner up, because damn. I didn't even romance him and was kind of stunned by how he was treated (namely the part where no one says a word about him).

that part sucks.  at least Shepard remembers him in her/his nightmares.  mine did anyways.  and then there's an awesome renegade interupt later in a game (if you did it, you know exactly what I'm talking about). and his name is on a memorial wall.

still.  I mean.  I don't know what happened there.  for every brilliant thing in ME3, there are just as many things that made me go "WTF bioware???"

I've only seen Liara and Ashley's scenes so far, which were both well done IMO. Though I find it odd how Ash had underwear on, but Liara seems immune to the "everyone wears underpants in Bioware sex scenes" rule.

Banshees, reaperized asari, have bare breasts. I've noticed that broodmothers have the same. In the Katsumi DLC, there was a male Grecian statue with full frontal nudity.

Non-human nudity seems to be okay.

I think the Jacob thing is hilarious.

...and with Thane, I'm kind of glad we have the option to ignore him completely.  My crew/Shepard in ME2 would have forgotten the guy was even on the Normandy and were shocked when he attended mission briefings.  "Oh yeah we have that Drell guy."

I haven't finished the game yet (about to being the end missions, I think), but it seems pretty clear that Jacob's romance was the worst.

Thane, too, although he ended up having a really cool part in the game - and nobody can say they didn't expect that.

Naturally, I'm saddened by the lack of Jack - but my fingers are crossed for DLC. Although, considering we weren't allowed to use ANY damn ME2 characters as squaddies, I think Jack and Miri came off pretty well. Especially considering Jacob.
