Aaaaaand here comes the $10 DLC for the "real" ending.

Sad part is....I'll buy it...

Eh, I don't see myself buying it.  I ponied up for From the Ashes,   Usually, I buy even the mediocre DLC's from Bioware, I'm a completionist and I've always loved their games.

But I'm not paying more for an ending that's simply better than the current "best case" options of "finish the game, and put your hand on a hot stove" or, "finish the game, and shave your head with a cheese grater."

I've loved the ME 3 Universe.  But I'm not paying more just for a decent ending that isn't "The Universe Is Now Made Of Suck."

I'll watch the vids on Youtube and say "Oh, that's how it should have ended.

I know that, the amount of time I have shoved into these games make me invested in it on a lot of levels and as a paying customer I expected that they would understand that.

Eh, not weeping or losing some sleep, but this game is like climbing a pile of spectacular awesome to find Jar Jar Binks at the top.

Welp, first we achieve space flight again, and then we start playing with ways to use Element Zero since we do still have the knowledge of the Mass Effect drives (if they are even destroyed) also if it destroyed the guns, I don't think that that soldiers would be lifting their guns in victory after the destroy ending and I know there was probably some celebrational firing of guns. Also it doesn't matter if it takes us hundreds of years to rebuild Mass Relays or even if we can, we can find a better way to do it now that won't leave us trapped if someone decides to shut down the relays. Also, I did not know that modern buildings were the result of Mass Effect technology, is my dorm only possible because of Reaper tech?

Unless your dorm was in the sticks it ain't there.  The Reaper destroyed almost all of the major cities of earth.  I imagine that much of the contruction equipment that would have been used to repair Earth would have been powered by mass effect technology so what do they do then?  Go back to gas engines?  Is there even any gas left?

Besides if you watch that horribly crappy old fart/kid scene after the credits it is clear that space travel is more of a fairy tale than something people are working towards.

No the whole world would basically be back to a post WW2 Europe state of ruins combined with black death scale (or worse) depopulation.  Not to mention that most centers of higher education/science/research are gone along with the brillant minds that worked there.  Your talking about starting starting over on a planetary scale from like the 18 century or so.

I like this human. He understands.

Hey man, people needed professional counselling and made support groups after watching Avatar. Why should this be different? After all, its 5 years of emotional investment that was just **** upon by Bioware. There is even a thread offering hugs for people who feel violated by the game.

Funny thing about preserving the species in Reaper form? They stated in ME2 they couldn't do that with the Protheans for whatever reason. So much for that race being preserved in Reaper form eh?

EDI: The Reapers subdued the Protheans long ago probability suggests they attempted to create a Prothean Reaper and failed. Over time they adapted the Protheans to suit their needs, changed them into workers, tools for the Reapers.

I think Vigil also said something similar about the Keepers...I'll see what I can find.

Edit: Here it is...

Shepard: So when the Reapers created the Citadel they created the Keepers as well?
Vigil: A more likely scenario is that the Keepers were one of the earlier harvested civilizations. Perhaps the very first. Perhaps they responded well to indoctinization or the Reapers simply bred them to be obedient. In any case they were left behind to operate and maintain the Citadel.
But the Keepers are no longer directly controlled by Sovereign or its ilk. They evolved so that they only respond to the signals emitted by the Citadel itself.
When the Protheans altered the Citadel's signal, they broke Sovereign’s hold over the Keepers. Now they are completely harmless.

In the very least not all species were made into Reapers for one reason or another.

lol Ah, that is awesome.

I haven't cried over this. Not yet at least. I am not losing sleep. A couple of nights I kept thinking about it and began to feel sick to my stomach but I could sleep. When I feel sick to my stomach or kinda shaky (happens sometimes when I get pissed off or nervous), I can't help that. It is a physcial reaction. For some people their emotions play out through their body.

And a lot of people are emotionally invested in this game and have been supporting it for years. Some people weep or lose sleep over other forms of media so why not video games too? Personally I don't judge people when they have physcial reactions like that. You can think its stupid but to make fun of them? Not okay.

This is not Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This is a game where our choices really mattered, and were consequently diminished in the last five minutes of game. A good example would be how hard some (like myself) worked to find the Geth a place in the universe alongside the Quarians, and could somehow not persuade "the God child" that they were wrong.

As long as people defend this, despite being the minority, they are telling Bioware that after such a fantastic series, that it's perfectly okay to end it on that note, just because they wanted to restart the franchise elsewhere.

I see BW people chiming in on random stuff the past 3 days but not a word on the endings and the obvious anger/disappointment/sadness of the fans and the people they are taking money from.

Why no response at all?

I just watched the Synthesis Ending again.. and have calmed down a little bit... its still bad but I stomach it more. They is still alot of things need tie up some closer too. More talking Catalyst because it says the Reapers are under its command. End of line. full stop. So we need some more explination at to is nature and how the Crucible changed it. Still need to get rid of the sceen on Normandy on Planet X. Close it with everyone on Earth wondering what happend. Shepards says a final good by to his or hers LI and the crew before jumping or while jumping.. just something. With some work the Synthesis ending could be the " Earn your happy ending." Add closing convo with Catalyst as end of the epilogue. Its still too much like Deus EX and there still needs to be some variance... maybe with how the deal with the Mass Relay based on you choice.

Because they're too busy preparing to announce their upcoming partnership with Netflix, A Certain Talk Radio Host, and the The Society For Kitten Euthanasia?

Modification to my earlier comment:  The ending of ME3 is like climbing a spectacular mountain of awesome to not only find emo Jar Jar Binks at the top, but he's banging your significant other while bragging that he's just gotten you fired, and audited, and towed your car, right after he killed your parents, friends, children, pets, and destroyed all copies, digital and dvd, of Firefly.  Oh, and you have to work Saturday too on those TPS reports.

That's the ending to one of the most amazing game franchises ever.

They still likely were turned into reapers.  The reapers are unconcerned with killing huge numbers of each species in the fighting.  Their goal seems to be to create a single reaper (maybe a couple) out of each species.  This would take millions of people, but the rest are expendable.  Or can be turned into mindless servents like Protheans and Keepers.

That's true, it's just a game.

It is also an incredibly compelling story about a character whose identity we have helped define throughout the course of many hours of time spanning several years. It's impossible to go through something like that and NOT have some emotional attachment to the people in the story. It's natural to desire proper resolution to the story.

I have, in the course of all my playthroughs, logged seven hundred and thirty two hours of play in the Mass Effect series. For those not inclined to do math, that is a little over a month of constant play.

Now tell me I don't have emotional investment in the story, the characters, and their future.

Jar Jar was terrible but honestly, I have to say, his creation was far better than the endings here. And that's saying something. Even at 11 when Episode I came out, I hated him.

Any fixing of the ending should be free or a patch. If they bundle a good ending into a DLC that costs more money they can keep it and any other games they produce. I already payed $87 for the CE to have great story and gameplay till the ending which ruined the game and any future playthroughs. So they should fix it for free, since it was the error in judgement that their customers would like a game with nothing but a horrible ending to the Trilogy.

Oh, it'll be a DLC that's free if you buy the Deluxe Platinum Ultra Collectors Edition of whatever game they're publishing next.

Seriously though... I caved and paid for the Promethian DLC, but I'm not paying money for the ending they left out because they were in a hurry, or because so many people pointed out that they've just ruined the feel of the entire game series.  I'll watch somebody's youtube of the "we didn't make everything suck ending.

Man, this is just ticking me off.
