This is directly quoted from from the moderator in the non spoiler forum Stanely Woo and shows that Bioware feels we are the problem not there game.
As for what a Fan is Stanley a fan of a company is someone who will buy your product sight unseen because they know it will be good Bioware has delivered  2 games in a row that a majority of people agree are not up to there past efforts so you will start to lose people I have every Bioware game released so I would consider myself a past "fan" and frankly I write my disapointment because I know you can do better. That is all  I look forward to seeing what Biowares response to this mess is .

Quote is below

"I have always been an advocate for our fans being able to criticize our games, rave about them, and discuss them in our community. And for the most part, our fans have been doing an awesome job of talking about the BioWare games they love and what they love or don't love about them.

Lately, however, it seems that people are throwing around the term "fan" a little too loosely. The "fans" are demanding we change something, the "fans" will no longer purchase a BioWare game in the future because they didn't like the ending to one of our games, we have betrayed the "fans." Think about what it means to be a fan, and consider how much (or how little) of a fan you must be to be able to so easily dismiss us so hyperbolically. And then you want us to change for you, or cater to you?

Believe me, I'm fine with fairweather fans, just as I'm fine with casual fans, hardcore fans, longtime fans and newfound fans, but at least be honest about what kind of fan you are. ;)

This thread is not really about Mass Effect 3, so I'm shutting it down.

End of line.

I think we have to regard that the poor guy have to handle every day with hundreds of criticial contributions and not all of them are friendly written. And he is forced to read them all - not a dream job I assume. He's a human as we are and humans can be frustrated sometimes. To me it's understandable: We are disappointed from the endings and BioWare is disappointed from "us fans". It's a doom lop, isn't? Personally I can't fully agree with him, but I can respect his mood. We should remember that there was a huge wave of overdrawn criticism against BioWare in the last months. (i.e. DA2 and then the unacceptable personal insults against a staff member.)

I wish to clarify one thing: I understand myself not as a "fan", but as a paying (and loyal) customer, and as a customer I'm very unsatisfyied with the endings. I'm not a wealthy man and games are very expensive in my country (100 USD für the DEE, but I wish tu support good games so I'm buying them at release), so I can't afford to pay such sums for a game that gives me bad feelings on the end instead rest and recovery.

Second point: There were promises (i.e. from Casey and Mike) for a different endings including a happy one - as a customer, I have to sustain on such promises when I'm thinking about a buy. That's business.

Again sorry for my bad English, it's actually not good enough for such long statements, but I wanted to say that though.

:)

If I had a twitter account I would remind him we don't know, in fact all we do know, is what they gave us. So if your ending enforces uncertainty, than you have sewn the seeds of fan discontent. Hell, I would of been happy walking around as the comm girl on the crashed planet and talking or interacting. I know the old guy at the end promised another story, which I think is pretty solid there is more, but the lack of information after that ending is a real problem.

If it's 20$+ I still buy it and play through my entire life. But it's my last Bioware game bought.

If it's not released...I keep fighting untill it is.

Yes, but we should fight FOR a better ending, not AGAINST BioWare. It's always better to be in favour of something. Positive energy we need, no negative - the endings are negative enough.

Well the important thing is that you've found a way to feel superior to the people you disagree with.

Respectfully, this outtrages me.

No.  No no no.

A fan is someone who LIKES YOUR WORK.  There is nothing "fairweather" about any of the people on here complaining.  If they do not like what they have purchased, that makes them disappointed, not "fairweather."  I honestly find this INCREDIBLY insulting.  If you annoy your fans, well, you won't have to think about how to categorize them, you just won't have any.

Semantically alone, "fairweather" would mean that these are the fans that leave when you are providing less amicable product, at which point, you are admitting to a lack of quality, by the way.  My point being, though, the mere fact these FANS are still ON YOUR BOARDS TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO BE HAPPY WITH YOUR PRODUCT MEANS THEY ARE TRUE FANS!  I understand Mr. Woo is tired, and annoyed, and all of the team is, considering they are getting this flak, but trying to lash out, however politely worded, is not the answer.

More than the endings, THIS makes me lose some respect for Bioware.  I am staying on here to see if something good comes for my $1000 worth of Mass Effect merchandise, but do not call me a "fairweather" fan.  I am here hoping to better a product, not abandoning you.

'Respect' does not require that you posit they're infallible. They're not jerks, I don't hate them, they just made an (admittedly large) mistake. I'd sure like them to give me the opportunity to pay them to fix it. You need to cease with the efforts to elevate yourself as a true fan.

I honestly don't care what they come up with at this point, I just want a true "Shepard lives" ending, not Shepard on the brink of death, barely breathing with burnt up armor.

I want him to destroy the damn Reapers, have Joker pull his ass off the Citadel in the Normandy and end up in the arms of and embracing his LI (for me, Liara) and be okay. I want true closure, on all fronts.

*rubs temples* Bioware fans, as of late, have been getting REALLY extreme, I will give the company that. Absolutely. I slapped my palm against my head when I heard about people threatening one of the devs. I rolled my eyes over people flipping out over the DLC. I shrugged when people were bashing the Multiplayer before anybody played it. And I sighed when people started bashing the game on Metacritic. This is not normal fandom behavior, I don't know what got into the fans when it came to this game around release time and some of the behavior was uncalled for.

But, as one of the fans who is more...sane...than some of them, I must kindly ask they take a step back, block out some of the more EXTREME posts on this subject, and read the ones that are very much written with thought put into them. Fans of the game who know the material. The same fans who point out Deception errors. These are the fans who are imbedded into your lore, invested time into reading and knowing about it, fans who also invested money because of their love of the lore.

The endings are not well, they are not what we think of when we think of the quality of Bioware. They are not of the same level of quality as the previous endings, of the games, of the game it ends Bioware. If you have something wonderful planned down the line, then I wait patiently for it. However, if you wish to let this sit as is, I implore you, as a fan, to take that step back and look at it again. We have been with you through three games, many books, and other media. We would like some closure at some point.

Thank you.

Well said, Katsuya, and the people complaining about us complaining don't seem to understand that it either doesn't effect them in the end or it won't matter at all so why bother arguing with us? There are only a few reasons I can think of and many of them are...not that great. To the point only one or two of the reasons I can respect, the rest just make me shake my head.

That's easy enough to want, but can you see some way for it to be accomplished? How do you want the Reapers destroyed? What did you want the Crucible to do? Upload a virus?
