As for the ending itself. Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick already did this one and theirs was better.

I know, it's hard to imagine that "My God it's full of Stars." flashing to the birth of a new form of life and intelligence would top the explosion of all civilization followed by "Granpa tell me another story about the spacemen." in terms of the story of a human transcending our existence. /sarcasm

Even without having finished the game yet I can say that just by knowing what the endings are I sort of wish for the Star Control 2 ending.

I mean I realize it's a cliche for everything to turn out great, but it's a fun cliche. I don't know I was raised on John McClain and Sarah Conner. Protaganists that succeed no matter what. And they get the best ending, always.

Ugh, that was one of the (many) things I hated about the last part of the game, too. You have to slowly inch around at a snail's pace.

What would be satisfactory: A big expansion pack, similar in size to Dragon Age: Origins Awakening (16+ hours) which further elaborates on the ending and picks up with Shepard having destroyed the Reapers. Post-game fun and exploration with the main character VAs returning for squad members and love interests.

What will probably happen: New multiplayer maps for $5 each. Fairly short bonus missions which add additional war assets and are released every two to three months.

All kidding aside, I'm really in favor of an official BioWare response to this universal hatred of the series finale. I know that an apology or acknowledgement of this slip-up would already add to the fire, but I'm holding out on a second playthrough for now.

Or the many numerous short stories by Ray Bradbury that depict bleak endingsie "Kalidescope", "The Long Rain" or "The Rocket Man."

I don't know.. I mean it's nice that they're reading and all.. but then again their "big plans" might end up falling short of what we want again. I feel kind of jaded.

Whatever 'big plans' they have aren't going to be to rewrite the endings. Maybe expand on them somehow (big maybe), but I sort of doubt it. Although, it does make DLC kind of pointless. Like the reason all the Mass Effect 2 DLC worked was because you thought you were sort of prepping for the Reapers coming. Now that they're here, you're dead, (or stranded on space rock), and your crew is gone no matter how it plays out, it sort of makes DLC kind of...futile. A situation where it's just like...why?

Regardless of whether or not they fix the ending, i still enjoyed the majority of the experience. No matter what Bioware does, they cannot satisfy everyone who wants a specific conclusion to their Shepard's story. While i am a still ticked off at the lackluster ending, the rest of the game was still fantastic and kept me interested all the way through. Just my 2 cents.

I'm a bit jaded as well...just finished the game...it was fantastic up until like the last 15 minutes...but the ending(s) were a major let down. Got all war resources, 100 percent readiness and still...crap ending(s). I was hoping the rumors were wrong but they weren't. And if Bioware thinks a majority of people were pleased with the endings, they're deluded. I know I will not be purchasing any dlc unless it is for sure alternative ending(s).

You know I hadn't thought of that.  That could be a good solution in general.  Have someone who has plot armor be the main character and view the galaxy A.S. (After Shepard)

Heck I wouldn't mind things like "Leliana's Song" showing the story of Jack, Miranda, Jacob, or any of the ME2 squadmates.

I liked the voices of the fallen playing in the sequence, not the child.

Same. I teared up during the last dream sequence, hearing the voices of Thane, Legion, Mordin, and Ashley. The kid didn't really effect me.

This. When 99% was some of the most amazing experiences I've ever had playing a game, I'm not gonna let the 1% tarnish my feelings on it. Overall, one of the best games ever made.

Though I actually rather liked the endings themselves. It was just the lack of choice that bothered me.

I'll take it with a grain of salt. The game, in itself has been great, like a roller coaster ride. But once you get to the end, it's like...oh wait? The ride stopped? What the hell?

We also have been told many things on what to "expect". Many have been initially left with sour tastes in their mouths.

Also, some scenes have..brought tears to my eyes, but this kid we see? I..feel nothing. I'm ashamed but I kinda grinned/smirked at the "dream sequences".

Personally, I think they should have stuck to the synthetic/organic conflict that Javrik touches on. The Reapers "save" organic races by killing them all and taking them away as a kind of assimilation plot. The renegade ending would loosely follow Javrik's/TIM's path, while the Paragon one would try out a more egalitarian society. Depending on EMS the reapers end up trashed or not (bad end!), the earth ends up trashed (bad end!) or not, and you lose people based on how prepared you were. It could go something like

1. Not enough to win, not enough to survive, Reapers kill everyone, cycle repeats.
2. Enough to win, not enough to survive, reaper forces lose, Shepard & co end up dead.
3. Enough to win, enough to survive, Shepard lives, company dead depending on choices made.
4. Enough to win, enough to survive, Shepard lives, company mostly lives.

Fit in the Earth getting nuked somewhere under 2.5 and not getting nuked above 2.5. Boom, ending that fits most of the established lore, and lets us get some closure.

My main issue is that the current endings make everything so POINTLESS.  You put in so much time and effort throughout the trilogy to prep for the Reapers -- even going to the extent of multiple save files just so you won't miss out on every little detail that could change the outcome... only to find out that it all doesn't matter.  Regardless of what you've done, who you've saved or killed, it all boils down to: Pick A, B, or C.

It's even more bitter because the buildup was SO good.  Leading up to the end just tore up your emotions and forced you to make some of the hardest decisions yet... and then: zilch.

I'm pretty sure everyone agrees. I mean, I know that "The Child" was supposed to be the embodiment of everyone Shepard couldn't save during the war, but the fact that Bioware made it a kid seems like they were trying to force emotion on us, and I don't know anyone that felt any emotion besides humour over that child.

I don't know why they do this to us. We played ME1, ME2 with all DLCs, spent years in it, with laughter and tears, just to see how everything turn out to be pointless in the end? I feel betrayed, deeply.

I did not feel humor over the child. Even back in the demo it bothered me. Didn't bother Abigail Shepard as much as the game tried to portray until she lost two of her former crew.
