One of the reason I've played the ME series is that I wanted a game that could be played as a single player. I play other MP type games so have no issues with them but I've played ME 1 and ME 2 as a single-player and that's how I wish to enjoy the game.

My concern is that Bioware made it clear that the single player was entirely independent of multi-player and not a requirement to enjoy the full content of the game. So, if that's the case then why should multi-player be required to reach ems levels to experience the full potential of the game?

I don't like multiplayer games in general. I play for story and I like to play my games alone and at my own pace.

Now, are we done with this interrogation?

Lol at this pretentious brat. Sorry, youre gonna have to play MP if you wanna get the best ending, just uninstall the game if you dont like it kid.

The Bioware fanbase is the worst in history.

Well, not when I have to pay for Xbox LIVE Gold just so I can get the most perfect ending. If you are playing on the PC and PS3, yeah, sure, but not when you're on the Xbox.
Everyone has their opinion, you know. Just respect it ;)

Very good point about XBL Gold.  I haven't touched multiplayer (yet?), but I believe it's online only...no splitscreen or even system link.

Also, I wonder if it's to get people who buy the game used to spring for the multiplayer access code.

I don't get a thing: is the best possible ending set between 4k - 5k EMS?
Because in that case you don't need 10k of TMS then, but 8k would be enough to get it.
The problem would be if there is a "more better ending" over 5k; in that case it's true that you will need at least 10k and I find it really hard to get by playing SP only.
I have heard about people who got 4.2k of EMS without MP so I think it's technically possible if you do a perfect playtrough.

I was 3670 with 100% completion, if you fixed a few of the Citadel things I did wrong then it'd be probably 3800.

If I betrayed the Krogan but lied to them about the Genophage cure I could potentially get 3910, but I'd have to be an ass to do that.

I'm just over halfway through the priority missions (I'm on the one where you get Tali), and my EMS is at 3,800+.

No MP played.

You forget that there's two numbers.

you need 8000 EMS and 4000 Total Assets.

BioWare community made it what it is today or used to be, and they never had multiplayer before we don't want it.

4k-5k ? are talking about effective military strength or total ?
Because i got the best ending ( shep lives) with 3500+ EMS.
Something seems off

According to the Prima guide - to get the cutscene where you see a supposedly dead Shepard take another breath - you need 4000 EMS.

Ok, then how the hell i got it with under 4k ?
I seriously curious now....

Because Prima wrote the strategy guide?

So I'd like to clarify something in light of the fact that I completed the game last night and the endings are still blowing my mind. I don't mean that in a good way.

I went into the Cerberus base point-of-no-return with an EMS of ~6400. However, I also took the shiny Green ending. I've been seeing a lot of **** around the webz about some kind of cutscene where we see Shepard's body take a breath - is this cutscene unavailable to me because of my Synthesis choice? I guess this could be a really obvious question considering that I watched him do a nose dive into the space magic, but you also watch his skin melt in the Control ending, so... What gives?

Appreciate the response! I haven't been with ME since the beginning, but I did buy the first two about a month ago and played through them fully and became a rabid fan of the story universe. Unnntilllll that last 45 minutes or so last night.

^ You only get the teaser scene implying Shepard may have lived with the destroy ending, and 4000 ems (5000 if you didn't "save" Anderson long enough to have a final chat with him).

Shepard only survives in the Destroy ending with EMS >= 4000. Never in Control or Merge.

Ok, well thanks for clearing that up. Yeah the endings were pretty awful. I don't have a PhD in literature or anything but I like to think I know **** when I see it. The endings weren't cardinal sin unforgiveable and there are a lot of positive implications you can draw from them. It just seems so out of place in a series where the storytelling has been so compelling that they would have decided those three cookie-cutter steaming piles were the best way to conclude things.

I became attached to these characters just inside of a month - I can imagine how people playing for years are so upset over this little FUBAR.

Oh yeah... Total Military Strength is the one at 3800, and EMS is at 1900.

1. I thoroughly enjoy the multiplayer parts.

2. It kinda sucks that people that just want to play singleplayer have to go play multi to enjoy all of the singleplayer.

...

IF you enjoy the combat aspects of the game you should give multiplayer a try. The I think it could be fun.

Otherwise don't overwrite the safegame and then you atleast have the ability to, bite the bullet, at do the games to garner enough rating for different endings.
