And the randomness continues. Could connect and play earlier today, now it won't work again. Oh yeah right, and EA Support still hasn't aswered, almost forgot about that......

I was talking to EA phone support about a separate issue, and the guy told me the PS3 servers haven't been that great, and he also said the PC servers were not running at their best today.

It could be some kind of a bug in the game that throws a connection timeout even though a connection has been successfully made or was going to be made.I have 2 PCs in my network with EXACTLY the same settings with their only differences between them being in their performances. Despite that I get to almost always connect to the ME3 servers only on the one with a better performance and a wired connection of which i thought that it could be the solution at first. But then I confirmed that that PC also connects without any problems when using a wireless connection with the exactly same adapter that I use on the one with the connection issues.
Unfortunately, that one belongs to me and the other one on which this game runs PERFECTLY without any connection problems or lags whatsoever belongs to my parents. :(

The only times I get to connect on my PC is always the first time after I booted it up in an interval of a couple of hours. Usually I never get in if I leave that PC turned on throughout the whole day and ever try to start the game at a later time. And if I just restart the PC immediately after shutting it down I wont get in either.
This might look like a coincidence because it still could be true that it's just the ME3 server doing **** and being open only at random times to some players but it just can't be because I have checked it just too many times! The other PC connects without any problems regardless of the internet connection method it uses (wireless or wired as already stated) so why shouldn't mine?
In order to be able to play the game at any time I always have to keep the game running without ever closing it in order to start it again at another time. Same **** with the shop. Can only enter it if I start the game not later than 5 minutes after booting up the PC and then enter the shop immediately.

So here is my final theory:

I managed to confirm that my PC appears to have an a bit slow hard drive and it seems that maybe its maximum performance at loading the game drops after the first time and then needs to "cool down" by having the PC turned off for a while or something like that.I'm not a hardware expert but it could mean that while connecting, the PC also tries to load a bunch of game data which makes it unable to frequently check if a connection is successfully established. Which means that due to some incredible PC lag while connecting, the game fails to recieve a command to stop the "timeout counter" which is still running even though the connection is already established.
To sum it all up the connection does not fail, it is just so slow due to the PC not loading the game fast enough that it triggers a timeout even though you are actually able to connect to the servers without any problems.

I know that this, even for me who has done everything even possible to fix this problem on my PC before coming up with this theory, this also seems to be extremely unlikely but i really don't know what else to think of anymore!
Though I am happy that I'm able to share my thoughts on this with everyone.

That follow can not access servers Bioware-EA, you have a security suite, Internet Security type Eset, Kaspersky, Comodo?

If so, for you can, connect yourself, do the following. Uninstall the suite, and not any data guardeis suite (except for code to activate it), then reboot, reinstall the suite. You ought to put ads all application connection, try activarel game fence when connecting to servers the suite will indicate something related to the certificate of EA-Bioware auntenticiada, add it to the list of authentication certificates.

Not even the suite configureis restart. After rebooting you should be able to seamlessly connect to EA servers. If you can connect yourself, and you can configure the suite, I get tested.

As already said by others if this would be a problem with a software you would NEVER be able to get in. But since we are able to get in sometimes this can't have something to do with our software.

hi, every one bye the way ea bioware generaly attempt server maitenance from monday to tuesday, if your in australia like i am i wait till about thursday which is wednesday u.s.a time or i log in offline to single player . otherwise its just to painfull. its a pain and windows 8 (is screwing stuff up too). on the weekends for the mp i usualy wait till sunday Australian time to complete them.. i would like to fight the collectors in retaliation but i consider myself lucky haven't been able to download it from the add on shop. considering the issues other gamers have had who got it earlier have stated.. the constant digital rights mismanagement shennigans check for properly authorised downloadable content is more than problematic. particualy when one has paid a hundred aussie kroner (dollars) for a collector edition version of Mass Effect 3 which restricts you from the newest dlc you have to fight constantly politely with Ea help to axcess the newer dlc mass effect 2 system for dlc worked why it was nobled for this one i will never undrerstand. mind you it still had some issues but they were much easier to deal with. the renegade out.

ok to those who are able to connect at least sometimes, try to leave your PC turned off for 2 hours or so and then come back and immediately after booting try to start the game. I am not sure why this really works for me but I never get in a second time.

@BlackScobelRanger i think i now know

@everyone wiht the problem

after getting a cnstant stream of problem and being forced to play wiht a few things for the first time in ages i found that disabling micro****e office services on boot (there delayed start by default) and adobe installer/updater services from running on startup fixed the issue completly, for anyone useing one of the advanced tuneup programs that offers to disable startup programs, i'd advise adjusting them, to no longer loading on startup.

as for adobe updater service (which always runs by default) it uses one of the same ports as me3 which is what causes the game ot constantly freeze when changing screens

as to why office causes a problem i suspect its a conflict in port scanning as well which might not happen if your not useing the netowrk/shareing additional extra with it.

sorta strange that ea/bw hasnt come accross this one and released it as a possible conflict problem though

 I have gone to help.ea.com and riaised a case:
Subject: Mass Effect 3 - The Mass Effect 3 Server is unavailable at this time. Please try again later.
Unable to authorize any DLC because I cannot connect to the server. The message "The Mass Effect 3 Server is unavailable at this time. Please try again later." has been coming up every time I try to play ME3. This is a problem that exists for a large number of players as reported on a number of forums. Is there something I need to do? Is there something EA needs to do? This game used to work fine when I first purchased it.

If enough people raise the issue directly with EA maybe they will do something. I don't think EA look at these forums. If they did surely they would have said something by now.

It was brought up on the EA forums months ago.  They've just done absolutely nothing to rectify it.

Will be raising it with ACCC in Australia if nothing happens. Not that I think they will do much.

Just got disconnected again. *sigh* I hope I can get back soon, but I'm afraid I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning (again); it's the only time I can connect for some reason.

Is everyone across the globe experiencing this? How come there seem to be only a few of us who are having this problem? I've checked other forums/sites and the people who are having this problem are a like only a handful. Not everyone posts on forums, sure, but still...

I can't speak for the globe, but I sure as h*#$ am getting this problem, since about 11 am today (Sat) all the way up through now (almost midnight, still unable to play due to server unavailable). Ridiculous, EA, I paid for this game, I did not pirate you, but seriously thinking about it.

I've spent some time talking with EA tech support trying to solve this issue and so far no luck, now I'm waiting for an email from their next tier of support. I've updated drivers, ran virus scans reinstalled the game twice. So far nothing. Short of pulling a Format C: (which I don't want to do) I've got nothing.

 Go here answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-3/Mass-Effect-Server-is-Unavailable-Really/m-p/127594#U127594 and add your voice/vote. Funny but there isn't much there so far.
