The following is a list of instructions I got from an EA Help person. They didn't work for me. They didn't break my pc.
I accept no responsibility if anything goes wrong ig you choose to follow them.

QUOTE from EA:

Please try the following instructions on the computer that is directly connected to your modem. Unfortunately, this will disconnect us from the chat. I will send you and Email with the troubleshooting steps and your Chat ID: [ID] as well. This will all be located inside the Chat Log.
1. Hold down the Windows key and press R
2. At the Run command, type cmd and press enter
3. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter
4. Type ipconfig /registerdns and press enter
5. Type ipconfig /release and press enter
6. Type ipconfig /renew and press enter
7. Type netsh winsoc reset and then press enter
8. Restart the computer

None of that helped me either.

Edit: Okay, it DID connect when I first loaded it, but when it tried to verify my DLC, it disconnected and hasn't connected since.

Oh, and when I tried to go to Origin Live Chat, the person showed up and the little message saying I had to wait a minute wouldn't go away, so the rep closed the connection.

That little message showing up and not going away has happened to me so many times. Origin why do you exist?

I just got off the chat with Wesley at EA, and he was awesome! I've had to go through and repair my install, enable a port on my firewall, repair my DLC, and am updating my windows. Then I get to reboot and see if it worked. Fingers Crossed!

So it's definitely server side then?

I doubt that anyone on the EA support team at the worker level is going to admit that its an EA issue for fear of losing their job. Until someone in EA recognises this as an EA issue it isn't going to get fixed. Next step will be to ask for my money back for all the DLC which cannot be used. I wont hold my breath on it and its not really what I want. But I paid as much for that as I did for the orginal game and have nothing to show for it! I just want to play ME3 plus DLC please!!!

I've tried almost everything now short of buying a new copy of the game - it *has* to be server side.

What!!! Give them more money! Please don't even think about it. There are enough unique instances of people not being able to connect througout the world that it has to be a server side problem If it isn't then its spooky that we all have the same problem! I'm more than happy to grovel and seek forgiveness if its a problem on my side. If it is just tell me what it is! :)

I'm sorry in advance if i'm posting something allready brought up
I've bought the Leviathan DLC, but without the connection it wouldn't authorise the damn thing
But sombody here, i think, suggested to open the game being offline and it actually worked, there was no authorisation crap and i could play the DLC.
So anyone off you who bought and want to play the DLC even with the EA server crushed, should just dissconect from the internet before opening the game and the DLC will be playable

regards

(X-post from another thread)

So I got the "The Mass Effect 3 server is unavailable yada yada yada try again later", and then, while the game was running, I unplugged / replugged the power on my modem. Suddenly...

"You have lost your connection to the Mass Effect 3 server. You must connect again to access online features of the title."

So the game seems a little confused as to whether or not I'm actually connected to the server. Anyone else have this problem?

Tip for you:
My problem solved  disabled APU Asus utilities. Try turning off program for downgrade cpu and energy savings.

Yes. It's stupid beyond belief.

A partial fix: replace the current version of the MAssEffect3.exe with the previous (v1.03.5427.46). You won't be able to access anything that came via Retalliation -- so no Collectors or hazard maps, and most likely no new characters or gear -- but you should be good to go with all your previous MP content.

Good news guys i had an Origin update today in the morning (45MB) and after that all my connectivity problems disappeared!!!!!!! Now i can connect back! I had ticked the option to get Beta updates if this might help. It turns out that Origin was the problem for me since after it auto-updated now it works flawlessy. Oh God i'm so happy.

I hope other people will get this update.

Tried all the recommended solutions, repaired install on all DLC's and updated Origins to the new Beta, still no luck connecting to the servers. Sometimes it even throws the "Redeem Online Pass" error. Highly annoying now, almost a month and no luck playing MP. Although the Single Player can be played when Origins is in Offline Mode.

In fact I seem to have developed a new symptom, as it tries to connect to the server it pauses for a moment then continues "communicating" and crashes to desktop with "Mass Effect 3 has stopped working"

Not sure what is going on with this game, this used to be my favourite game, but no luck.

Edit 1: Okay, so after the initial failures, I decided to repair install after updating Origins to Beta version, The Mass Effect 3 game file (not the DLC) downloaded a small 219kb update, going to test it now and see what happens. will let you know if its successful.

Edit 2: Still no luck, I think I am calling it quits on Mass Effect MP, going to play Borderlands 2 instead, atleast that works properly and allows multiplayer... Will keep checking the forums if tehre are any solutions to this, but after more than a month of this with no response from EA or Bioware I am annoyed.

Ok, so with the DNS thing, my command box says it needs to be elevated or something like that. Huh what?

open cmd prompt from the all programs list by right clicking it and selecting it to run as admin

thats what it means by "elevated "
