My first playthrough I did a liara romance from ME1, thought ME2 with LoTBS, and continued in ME3. In the beginning on mars and the first time on the Normandy, it was good. Continuation from getting back together with lotsb. However it seems that after the first scene on the normandy where the romance is obviously seamlessly continuing, you get friendzoned. All of a sudden there was a conversation on the citadel where she said I was a good friend and I had the option to say I wanted to be more than friends. Really? After confirming what happened in lotsb on mars, and the kissing scene on the Normandy after that, I have to say I want to be more than friends? It's either a bug or sloppy writing.
Now Ashley's romance omy current playthrough, same story. Romanc in mass 1, faithful in mass 2, and I get some options on mars, then the bed scene in the hospital. After that, once she's become a specter, the conversation about her promotion and her sisters memorial are not romance conversations. Apparently there's a cafe conversation that's there to confirm the romance, which would be understandable given her story in me2. But the thing is, that's it. From what I hear the cafe scene is mostly auto dialogue as well. The conversation talking about her specter promotion was fully automatic.
Just wondering if anyone else felt the romances were sloppy, or lacking. Liaras was the best out of the two so far, but they were both kind of bad. It seemed like it was geared towards new players rather than continuing from previous games.

Anyone else felt the romances were lacking?

I was satisfied with the Ashley romance, it was well written, and well voice acted and paced properly considering the back-drop of galactic war and her personal losses. But that's just my two cents.
This, of course, does not include how the game ends.

Did you import a romance from me1? Did it feel like it acknowledged that you romanced her in mass 1 or was it like a new romance in me3?

I thought Liara's was incredibly well done.
Again, though, this is ignoring the ending...

Yes, I imported a romance from ME1, and I feel like it acknowledged that past in ME3. I don't even know if you can romance her (Ashley) if you didn't do so in ME1.

Pretty damned happy with how the Tali romance went down.

ME1 love interests got wonderful interaction
Garrus and Tali got fairly decent carryovers from ME2
EVERYONE else from ME2 got shafted royally.
Havent tried new ME3 romances yet but the character interactions have been okay so far on a "friendship" level.

I thought Kaidan's was great. There was lots of dialogue about Shep's death/resurrection messing up their relationship, and apology for not trusting her. I haven't seen any of the others yet, but it felt really natural.

Not really, I took a romance with Ashley from ME1 into ME3 (no cheating) and it was fine.

I was happy with the Tali romance.
I hope they add more with DLC, but I'm fine with what was delivered.

I thought the Liara romance was incredibly well done. My sole disappointment with it was that when Allers hit on Shepard, there's no option to tell her she needs to be careful, because there is an extremely possessive blue biotic who might flay her is she doesn't keep her hands to herself.

I actually got zero chances to even start a romance and I talked to my crew after every mission and met them on the Citidel.

I thought the Tali romance went pretty well. Only problem was problems inherent with the ending.

Kaidan romance was absolutely fantastic. Lots of wonderful moments to connect and catch up on things, and the final scene was very tasteful and satisfying. I think it's safe to say you're in the minority here.

Garrus has a great romance, I teared up when my Shepard said her final good byes to him, he was almost crying.

I was not pleased with the Jacob and Thane romances, if you could call them that, but the Jack one was quite good. Very heartfelt, and I wish I could have spent more time with her. It does feel like the ME2 squad got the scraps, though some were hit harder than others.

The scene between Shep and Tali on Rannoch if you reunite the Quarians and Geth was incredibly well done, I thought, Haven't seen any of the other romances because Tali =P

I just finished my first playthrough minutes ago, with an Ashley romance from ME1/No cheating in ME2, and I could not be happier with it, sad ME3 ending notwithstanding. It was extremely touching.

Romanced Tali again (of course!) and it was "still totally worth it"!

The Kaidan romance was good, but it felt a little too detached. After all the whole bit on Horizon, and the apology email--and the blatant distrust at the beginning of ME3? I just feel that more needed to be hashed out. Some emotion. A fight, even, to make it seem real. As a character, I felt a lot more connected in ME1, and even ME2. ME3, it just felt like a complete sidenote--one without conclusion and closure.

Well I'm glad most the people who had love interests involving ME1 characters are enjoying themselves. I do mean that honestly. I'd still to depressed from lack of Jack content right now combined with the endings to even try and go back to try Garrus or Kaidan on my FemShep saves.

ME2 romancers got punched in the teeth, and I'm more than a little displeased with that.

Thane romance. ಠ _ಠ
Garrus' seems OK so far, but I really only did his to see the variations and stuff. Definitely gets more screentime. But of course, he's GARRUS! XD
I really liked Thane in ME2. As my second favourite character in the entire series (behind Mordin), I thought his story was so interesting and I was looking forward to see how they would deal with his Keprals and how it would complicate the romance.
Apparently, there was not much to see. <_<
I don't care that he was out of the fight, I get that he was too impaired to make a legitimate squad mate.
I just think it'd have been better if you could have checked up on him while he got worse and worse between missions. Or at the very least had some kind of acknowledgement of a romance when he dies.
When I found out he says the prayer whether you romanced him or not I was like. Oh. . . Wait, what? <_<
Lack of exclusivity between the intereactions of a romanced and non-romanced Thane were disappointing.
The fact that you only see him 3 times in total (once when talking, the second with Kai Leng and lastly on his deathbed) alone was bad enough.
To know that all of it except 2 variations during the conversation is exactly the same as though you hadn't romanced him was kind of a slap to the face.

Punched? I feel like I got held down and had half of my teeth yanked out with pliers without so much as an offer of pain killers.
