I only romanced Kaidan and I was rushing so I might have missed something, but I feel that the romance just sort of stopped after the dinner scene. I had Shepard get back together with him but I didn't get any other scenes until the scene in her quarters before attacking Cerberus. I'm hoping I missed something because it made the romance seem a little disjointed.

3 Things...

Well, considering my LI, Kelly Chambers was presumed to *not* have any romantic angle in this game, I am still sufficiently surprised and happy to complain about it.  I would love an extended date sequence, and there may very well be one there, but for now I'm content to say that if the game ends, then my Shepard is with the one he wants.  My only gripe will be if something happens to the Citadel while she is still on it, because if I had the option, I would absolutely drag her onto the Normandy with me. It's tough leaving her there knowing the Reapers could show up at any point.

Sorry to spoil you but this is the spoiler area. Don't read on if you don't want to know.

If you head back to the area where she was hanging out after the Udina coup attempt a couple of people talk about her. Turns out when Cereberus came to the station they found and killed her. It actually irritated me that after hearing that conversation I couldn't add her name to the Normandy's memorial wall. She deserved to be there.

When I found out he says the prayer whether you romanced him or not I was like.  Oh. . . Wait, what? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angry.png[/smilie]

Wait, what? I totally thought that happened because of the romance. Otherwise why wouldn't his last thoughts be for his son? I felt bad that Kolyat had to see his Dad's last thought on the woman who apparently took his mom's place, but hey love is selfish. Having that be the same for everyone does jip the people who romanced him.

Thirdly, there's no way to break off a relationship you start in ME3. I had hoped that after Thane died I could go back to Kaiden, best of both worlds, so to say. But I rebounded into Traynor's romance option but never got a chance to change my mind, as in ME2. I blew her off the next time (the traditional pre-last battle sex) but still got the "I love you" conversation later. In ME2 you could lead on all your possible love interests until near the end then buzz through them all with minimal replay. The locked sequencing of ME3 means you pretty much need to replay nearly the entire game to get the final conversations/cut scenes at the end. I REALLY hope somebody comes out with a mod or save editor...

Oh I guess this is a 4th thing, but I still think it's bs that male Shepard gets 8 romance options while femShep gets 5. I like playing as FemShep better but will end up having to do more male play throughs if I want to hit all the replays. Grr.

I romanced Ashley in ME1, no one in 2, and I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the whole thing.

Honestly, after that play through, I felt WAY more connected to Liara then I did Ashley. Especially given Liara's goodbye, where she shares her memories with you and rests her head on Shepard's shoulder. But even before that, I felt like the two showed a lot of chemistry for not having been in a relationship, and that Ashley and Shepard just kept trying to reaffirm if they liked each other.

But I'm wondering if perhaps I missed a goodbye
, because now that I think about it, I don't remember my Shepard saying goodbye to Ashley before heading toward the beam to get on the Citadel. I talked to the com officer and said goodbye to all the characters there, I don't believe Ashley was among them. And I talked to Garrus, Wrex, Tali, EDI, and Liara on my way to see Anderson before the final push.

Ashley was on the Normandy after it crashed. So did I miss something? The scene in the captain's quarters is the final goodbye with your LI? That seems pretty weak, especially considering the goodbye I had with Liara. That seemed a lot more personal and interesting.

Yep, there is a goodbye with Ash on earth, so u probably missed it. Quite sweet, that one.

Surpised nobody has mentioned Jacob. I read a brief description (aka rant) about how it played out, if it's true then that's the worst romance to do. Good thing I never cared much for Jacob in the first place.

IMO Mass Effect has 5 Primary romances.

Liara
Ashley
Kaiden
Tali
Garrus

All were written well IMO although I have only experienced the Ashley and Liara romances personally, and the rest with Youtube videos. All other Romances are treated as secondary in ME3.

Jack
Thane
Miranda
Jacob (OMGWTFBBQ)

It's almost as if Bioware is saying those romances are less canon...also Jacob cheating on you is canon.
