Did the Collector Base choice have ANY effect on ME3's ending?

Other than small snippets of dialogue regarding your choice, I saw no mention of the Collector Base in the finale. I saved it in my Renegade save, then destroyed it in my Paragon save, yet both ended the same way. Anyone notice if the Collector Base had any effect at all on the main plot?

From what I can tell, it just comes down to War Assets.

Other than who lived and died in the collector base, no, it didn't really contribute anything that I noticed. I figured that saving the base in my renegade playthrough would have some sort of major bearing on the plot of ME3, but apparently The Illusive Man gets what he wants no matter what.

So does cerberus still get indoctronated in me3 even if you destroy the collector base in me2?

As I understand, it affects which ending you get at low assets. Forces your hand, as it were.

Does cerberus get indoctronated regardless of what you do?

Cerberus is indoctrinated no matter what. same three choices no matter the disposition of the collector base.

Don't forget that the Illusive Man was indoctrinated before he even became the Illusive Man.

Comics. He was indoctrinated back when Saren was.

I don't understand -- so how are the endings different if you saved or destroyed the Collector base?

So from the IGN guide....there is nearly no negligible difference with regards to saving or destroying the base. That's highly disappointing.

Not really. The only difference seems to be whether the "earth gets destroyed anyway" ending involves controlling the reapers, or destroying them.

And odds are you're never going to see that ending because it's gotta be nearly impossible to get that few War Assets.

I heard you can't get the synthesis ending without it but don't quote me on that.

Nope.  Doesn't affect the Synthesis ending at all.

Synthesis ending simply requires 2800 or greater effective military readiness. The 'breath' teaser requires 4000 EMT if you got to talk to Anderson after TIM dies and 5000 if you didn't, and either way you only get that if you chose to exterminate all synthetic life, including EDI and the Geth.

Actually I don't think Earth can be wiped out in the Control ending even with the lowest possible assets, maybe I am wrong though.
