Does anyone else feel like Bioware tried too hard to be dramatic?

I just recall how various employees talked about how "emotionally charged" or "dramatic" this game would be compared to the previous two.  The sense of loss, regret, helplessness etc was supposed to have been elevated, but after almost finishing the game I can honestly say that there's not been a single scene that felt sincere.

Every single one of them, and I mean every one felt completely contrived with it's only purpose was to tug at the heartstrings in some fashion.  The problem though is that almost everything about them is out of sync and they all fail because either cues are missed or the wrong music plays at the wrong time.  It also doesn't help when character actors are only allowed to give around half of the amount of time necessary to convey true emotion as though they are speed reading their lines.

Honestly, the opening sequence to ME2 had more impact than everything combined in this game so far, and we already knew it was going to happen anyway.  It was still just the perfect example of how you should do scenes like that.  The inside jokes, or references to the previous games however were done rather well.  It's just when the "serious factor" is turned on, the scene just falls off a cliff.

This is a repost but it fits you question:
Honestly I amdisappoint. Realism isn't killing Washington after crossing the Delaware.

My headcanon is this:

“Hackett, the reapers are controlled by the citadel. BLOW IT UP! But get me outta here first.”

Que KOTOR Jedi Ending

Roll credits

But since Shepard is too stupid to think of that he/she deserves to die to death from a crucible death ray.

I don't think there is any replay value with the original endings. There is too much of a character investment or rather a personal investment in the character to watch them die....again and again, or just have them forever separated from their friends.

I could live with the above ending better than what we got.

Lolhay guys, I can suddenly breathe and walk around in space because that's convenient to the narrative.

I also don't really feel like replaying it again. ME2 I replayed immediately after finishing the first time, but this time I just feel like nothing I do will change very much if I replay ME3...I'll still end up at the same place, with the same three choices that I don't care about.

I agree. Personally I think the game takes itself a little bit too seriously. But I think as well that it is very hard to achieve a balance in this case. BioWare wanted to create a worthy closure, a dramatic finale for a great game series and they put a huge effort in the game and overshoot. Personally I could connive at this, when there were an enjoyable ending for me.

Once I hear what the "exciting stuff" coming down the pipe is, I will give it a replay. Until that point, no. I'll do some multiplayer, and go work on the TVTropes page for the game, but that's pretty much it.

They were doing good up until the Endings. The game is great up until that last 15 minutes or so and the its goes in left field with any basis as to why. The Catalyst says that its want to stop the cycle of Creator and Progeny going to war, Stop Organics from being wiped out by Synthetics but its doing exactly that whether the life is advanced or not is a moot. Sounds like when they got to the end the had created a plot that they themselves did not know how to end... so we get these endings.
