Okay so ending came (yay for interesting ending!) and I skipped the credits. A the loading terminal screen popped up and the next thing I knew I was back to before the cerberus final battle (and I know it wasn't the saves because I saved a million times after that). Did this happen to anyone else?

It happens to everyone. After the credits you are dropped off prior to hitting the Cerberus station so that you can do DLC and such when you buy it.
