Let's get the ugly caveat out of the way: the endings are horrible.

BUT. And it's a big BUT: the rest of the game is just amazing. The designs are wonderful. The stunning moments are just that. Stunning. The personal moments with squadmates and ex-squadmates alike are so well done. You guys nearly brought me to tears several times.

I was a -little- put off by the auto-dialogue, but I got over it because I understood this needed to be a bit more tightly woven tale. And it got better as the game progressed. The urgency and severity of the war was so well conveyed. But again: the moments with my former squadmates really made the game for me. And the time you spent on the conversations, not just between my Shepard and the squaddies, but also amongst themselves is staggering. Very impressed with the game as a whole.

Combat was as great as ever. Multiplayer is fun. Well done, guys. If you add in an ending DLC to tie up loose ends and give us a more definitive/satisfying ending: this will be wthout a doubt the BEST game trilogy/series of all time. I honestly can't see anybody ever topping this series. I'm truly in awe. Bravo.:D

As for the endings: Join the club man :/ that's the story around here lately.

But I totally agree with the rest of your post. I feel like the backlash against the endings has completely overshadowed the rest of the game. Do I want to see a happy ending for my Shepard? Yes I do, and I would like BioWare to add it in. But I think the writing for the rest of the game was absolutely magnificent. Here's hoping they can top it off.

Agreed, I think its important to realize how fantastic the game is despite the rather disappointing endings. Hopefully they'll fix that and they can go down in gaming history haha. Not only as a fantastic developer but one that listens to its fans.

Absolutely agreed, I felt like I genuinely cared about these characters. The purpose of a game is to make you care about people that don't even exist. It hurt to watch former squadmates die, when you brought along Liara on Thessia you could practically feel her pain. Mass effect 3 did it all superbly....all the way until the end, where I was sitting at my desk wondering wtf I just watched. I actually went online to look for alternate endings because I was convinced at the time I got the absolute worst endings, only to find that the "16" endings they promised were really only 3 and even those three endings could ultimately be distilled into 1 ending with only superficial differences between them.

They made you care about everything, the worlds you were saving, the people, your team, then they took it all away from you out of no where and for no good reason. Then they spit in your face and punched you in the stomach.

All throughout the game I felt this was the perfect conclusion (barring some polish), interaction with past characters were satisfactory (would´ve liked to see more old friends) and the whole game felt like they were tying up loose ends and culminating 5 years of experiences.

But as with everyone else...the endings, I feel as if someone should reimburse me for the alcohol, medication or therapy I need to dig myself out of this devestating, gutted feeling. It is to the point that I am refusing to validate the endings provided, and just replace it with one in my head.

Agree with all of you. Before I had my heart yanked out of my chest by the "ending", I was listening to the soundtrack, and thinking what an absolutely amazing game this was (Especially after the super sweet Kaidan scene). I was a little scared to finish it, to be honest, because I didn't want it to be over. Wish I had listened to myself...

This is my opinion almost verbatim. The game is so, so great. I got choked up and misty-eyed many times.

But the Fable 2-style choose-one-of-three-crappy-endings was pretty messed up.
