Looking to buy the From Ashes DLC and add it to my Mass Effect 3 game.  The link on Bioware Social states to simply click the Downloadable Content button from the main menu to purchase From Ashes DLC, however, there is no such button to be found in the menu.

After a bit of reading, my assumption is that I need to reach a certain point in the game before that appears on the menu, or am I missing something?

here is how i did it.
open origin
right click on the mass effect 3 icon under the "my games" tab
left click "show game details"
another screen will pop up, at the top right corner choose "shop for add-ons"
i got it right in there

and no, you can have it before you even start a campaign, no level req.

I had even searched for From Ashes in Origin to no avail, but I see it now. Right click to the rescue!
