I've seen the beam thing that Shepard travels up at the end of the game referred to as the Conduit several times now, and I'm fairly sure it was called that in game too. I was just wondering if this had any relation to the Conduit from Mass Effect 1?
It seems a bit strange that Bioware named two completely different things identically, especially considering their context to the Citadel. Am I just confused/wrong?
On a somewhat related note, you know what would have been an easier way to get into the Citadel than fighting a Reaper with tanks? Zipping over to Ilos and using the Conduit to get into the Citadel. Unless they removed it of course.
Regardless, if someone could clear this up for me I'd appreciate it.
The Conduit?

Indeed. At least some exposition is necessary to explain why that isn't an option.you know what would have been an easier way to get into the Citadel than fighting a Reaper with tanks? Zipping over to Ilos and using the Conduit to get into the Citadel
On the other hand, there are bigger plot holes so I don't really care about such minor details - e.g. the Reapers know that the Crucible is key to the multi species war effort... but rather than shooting at it they go off to kill some infantry - we know from ME2 that "Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a **** in space" and that weapons have virtually infinite range so there's really nothing the allied fleet could have done to prevent this short of blocking the line of fire with their ships which is simply impossible given the Reaper's volume of fire)
