I really don't get it, I've played all MEs, I've enjoyed them. I also enjoyed ME3, and I love the endings, Bioware has ALWAYS said that mass effect 3 would be THE END of commander Shepard. Instead of accepting bioware's story, and the huge amount of balls it must've taken to do it in the way they did it, you want them to edit so many years of work, just so you guys can get your happy ending?
This, I wont be a part of, I'll happily buy another bioware game, they've given me an immense story, with an end that just says "Shepard is the greatest hero of all times"
Again. It's not the dark ending pissed most of us. It's the problematic and illogical plot disappointed us. You really think THE shepherd, who went through the plot of ME1 & 2, would but the crappy talk given by the Catalyst? He just solved the conflict between the Geth and the quarian, and now he would totally get on board with the 3 options? Would that make any sense? The plot revealed its flaws from the very beginning of the battle between the allied fleet and the reaper. The sucking ending is simply a breakint point.
The geth turned on the quarians once, and they could do so again. At some point AI would come to the conclusion that organic life just isn't cost-effective, destroying more than it creates, so AI would turn on organic life once again. (Maybe)
There's a million opportunities, Shepard is close to death when he has to make this decision, he's in alot of pain, lost alot of blood..and you want him to come up with a grand speech to convince this synthetic, thats thousands of years old and has seen organic life spreading chaos again and again? I don't think so.. By solving the conflict between the geth and the quarians, shepard has shown the catalyst that organic life is ready to live with synthetic life, and thus go into the final cycle. (again, maybe).
But it's not our place to speculate, its not our place to try and rewrite the story already told, the writers at bioware has already written the story, and like it or not, this is the end no matter how much you cry about it being illogical and flawed. Who knows what bioware has in store for the mass effect universe with these endings, but im pretty damned excited about it.

Not only do Bioware need to fix the endings, but also fix the ME2 romances. I mean really Jack doesn't have a romance sence? What was the point of making new romances in ME2 if they were just going to get booted in ME3.
They probably wanted to do more with the ME2 romances but realized that they took on too many and couldn't deliver in the end. Or maybe they didn't realize the romances in ME2 would get so much fan love. Or maybe they were just plain lazy...who knows...

To be fair though, there are four endings [spolier] (If your EMS is high enough if you choose to Destroy the reaper base Shepard lives) but that still doesn't tie up all things.
I'd say what you see is whats called Cheyne-Stokes respiration, not shepard surviving

As someone in a entertainment and marketing industry I know someone who said it best. "You can make a bunch of little mistakes, but rarely can you make large mistakes."
One large mistake equates to one very large resounding This is BS chant. Especially on this board we are a very forgiving group, often willing to try to understand or hope for better.
This is 3 games in you should know better by now. Especially after the DA2 incident. I especially can't stomach when I realized my 3 options of endings (and 1 hidden bs ending) were ultimately the Dues Ex ending.

Yes, this is the end. I don't expect that Bioware would anything about the ending. In fact, I wish them not to because the flaws in ME3 are too many and evident. They failed their loyal fans with a perfect way - screwing the most important trilogy in sci-fi games.

And what of the blowing up Mass Relays that ultimately destroy a solar system? That was only a dlc ago, are we forgiving this bs too?

The mass relays doesn't blow up, they're just destroyed in the process of spreading whatever effect you choose in the end.

Here's another solution I can see them doing. Convince the core to give this cycle the chance to prove them wrong - have the reapers retreat and stay as an element in the universe - a reminder of what happens if Organics and Synthetics cannot maintain peace between each other.
While I'm not in support of the idea that "The best ending should be DLC." But, honestly - consitering this is the end. I am kind in support of the idea that they could continually add different endings. Either as an apology or as part of the idea of DLC - different paths to conclude the story that players can buy and explore.
