Everytime I play the game Origin fires up and starts going online. If I don't have an internet connection at the time it won't let me play my game because of the DLCs. Why does it have to check for DLC authenticity every single time? I purchased the dang game, I have the right to play it, and with all the content I paid for, any time I want, whether I have an internet connection or not.

Mass Effect 2 confirmed the authenticity of DLC stuff once and then never bugged you again. Why can't ME 3 do it?

Same issue. I can't run it without Origin connecting EVERY time.

I don't have the problem. It says trying to connect at the main menu. The computer on the side doesn't start up, but I can still play. I feel bad for you :(

Yes, this is really ridiculous. We were assured that we wouldn't need to be online to play the game, but the truth is that you do. If you pre-ordered, bought the CE/DDE, or have any other DLC whatsoever, you can't load any of your save games (they'll fail the DLC check and refuse to let you play).

I don't expect them to fix this. They're more concerned about preventing piracy (hahahaha) than letting you play the game offline. I mean, just because they said you could ... well, they've said a lot of things. Some of them even turned out to be true.

On the other hand, if you don't have any DLC ... you can play your saved games just fine.

Firing Origin up in offline mode worked fine for me.

Only checked because of this thread.

I can play the game if I'm not connected to the internet, but I can't use any of my DLC and if I try to continue a game it tells me it can't because I don't have the DLC that I paid money for.

Seems now that the server is going down people are realizing what a problem this is. Told you so.

I'm really, really pissed off!!!! I bought the damn collector edition from ME, but now I can't play my game because the servers are down and I have the From The Ashes DLC in my save game!!!

So, to play my save game I need to be connected to the internet?? Isn't enough to have in MY ACCOUNT the collector edition??? I can't say a bad word here, but I have a LOT to say.. I need to be sure that I can play my game without connected to the internet..

I demand to play my saved game without connecting to the internet.. With my account y play ME3, so in my account are the information about what DLC I have and what edition of the game I have so I don't see the reason to be on internet to play MY saved game because I have that DLC..

Sorry, sorry people, english isn't my first lenguage.. But you have to understand.. I'm really angry.. Nearly 90 dolars for this edition and I can't play..

Aww, server was up for a second.... Oh, and EA has confirmed I own the dlc so much already... ooh, look, it's also listed in origin as being owned.

So glad I can't play SP when the servers are down. Guess I can go outside and let my allergies run wild now.

My friend tolds me he has the pirated version and he's playing freely, with no issues or problem connections like this..

That's funny, this only screw with us customers and don't have any impact with the pirates..

I hope someone takes a stand on this, if my Internet goes down I still want to freely play this game! It's hilarious that they want to stop people pirating this game, by making stuff irritating for buyers and not for the "pirates."

Solution Found.

Unplug your internet connection (or block ME3 in your windows firewall settings)

Game boots up fine and give you access to your DLC games....

Jeez Bioware... this is just stupid... why make it more of a hassle for your customers to play your games... this is definitely not a feature that will stop pirates from playing your game... but it definitely makes your existing fan base cringe....

You're right.. I tested your solution and it works..

But we play with our accounts, if we bought the dlc with and play with our accounts, the only requirements to play is to login our accounts in origin to play.. Just doesn't make sense..

I couldn't agree more, now I do have a feeling that this is more EA's doing than Bioware.

You know, I have been saying this for years, copy protection measures, whether it has been starforce etc., or any of this DRM stuff, or restrictions to how many times you can install a product and so forth, will always, and I mean ALWAYS, hurt the paying customer.

No matter what anyone does, the fact of the matter is and remains, pirated games will not go away, game companies will not get rid off them by adding and using "anti-piracy" measures. Someone will always find a way to go around them. It might take a while, but in the end, every product, every game will be pirated.

So who loses in this, like said, the paying customer like us. First of all the cost of these measures is somehow added to the end product, because obviously they ain't cheap to implement and run. Secondly, they never work as intended. They get circumvented. And thirdly and most annoyingly, they only mess up the game for people who have actually bought it.

Whereas we have to deal with all this, no matter if it messes your game or not, the ones who have downloaded the pirated version, never have these problems. This is simply, because the ones who have cracked the game, have obviously removed all these functions from the game leaving it free of DRM or copy-protection issues.

I for one would like to see game companies to drop all of these measures altogether. It would lead to a way better customer satisfaction and would probably even lead to less piracy. I've read from other forums, that people who can't get the game working, will resort to piracy just to play the game. On the other hand, some are so dead against any anti-piracy measures, that they refuse to buy games that contain them, also leading to them pirating instead of buying.

This isn't preventing piracy, it's annoying your customers.

What's the point of an offline mode that doesn't run the whole single player offline?

The whole thing is absurd. I was stuck on the main menu unable to click on anything for about a minute last night, and that was just switching between single player and multiplayer..

They really did cram a lot of unpleasant crap into this game.

I think the lesson learned here, is we should just pirate these games and save ourselves a-lot of frustration, aggravation, and frankly money. I mean i bought it and can't play, and pirates are out there enjoying themselves? WTF. It's almost been 24 hours and no joy yet... So far my Me3 experience makes it feel like a beta anyways - my Shepard got stuck between Edi and Joker on invisible ground that required a restart from a previous save to fix among other things.

Why is the EA SITE SO USER UN-FRIENDLY i couldn't even find where to contact support to properly get some technical information on what was going on, why their servers are down, and WHEN it was expected to be up again.

If i seem angry, sorry that is because i am, and disappointed.

P.S. I won't ever pirate, but i sure as heck won't be buying/playing BAD DRM games anymore. NOT WORTH THE FRUSTRATION. -1 customer.

It does that for me too, but there was only one occurence when it couldn't verify the date for some unkown reason.
A one-time check would be enough, if it could have been done with DA:O, I don't see why it can't be done here.

Are Bioware staff actually supposed to do something in this forum? It's a technical support forum so it seems like one they ought to pay attention to.

Well, it is kind of a self-help forum, but I think technical feedback is taken from here.
