One thing that drove me up the wall in Mass Effect 1 was the mouse acceleration and how there was no way (at all) to fix it. Any amount of windows settings, ini tweaking, or registry edits had no effect. Most people don't notice/mind accel or are used to it, but unfortunately I'm not one of them, and it makes the game such a chore for me to play that after trying to deal with it for 3 restarts (furthest I got was becoming a specter), I bought it for my console just to play it with a gamepad instead.
It was fixable in Mass 2, but it was a bit of a headache requiring you to download an editor to make the necessary changes. Still a little puzzling as to why they make it so hard for us.
Finally in Mass 3 you can achieve what feels like 1:1 mouse speed just by toggling mouse dampening, and the mouse controls feel just fine via in-game settings alone. By far the most positive surprise for me.
Thanks!
I want to gush about one detail
