Is there any fix for this problem?

The enemies just poof and sometimes they carry plot items. I had to redo  the fight when recruiting Isabella 3 times because the body with the plot item kept disapearing.

And they don't leave loot piles? Maybe set the tactics on whoever has death syphon not to use it until mana is below 25 % and to turn it off at 75% That's what I set anyone I give it to (mostly just to get spirit mastery) at so it's rarely used.
