And it’s not the only EA published/Developed game that does
this. My computer will not recognise there is a disk in the drive but this only
happens with Disk 1 of games published or developed by EA. Disk 2 will always
read but disk 1 never will. Any other non EA game I have reads just fine but ever
since the launch of Origin my EA game disks might as well be paper weights.

Does anybody have a fix for this? Downloading Mass Effect 3
and all it’s 11 GB on a down speed of 500 kb/s is going to literally take all
day.

Is the Firmware of your Drive updated?

That is a very good point. How would I go about this?

For that you must go to the website of your manufacturer LG or Samsung whatever

There is copy protection on the discs that make it more difficult for a disc drive to read it. I had this issue with ME2 and ME3. I can solve it by simply ejecting and trying again but with ME2 the issue was so persistent that I had to download a crack to play it.

Never had that problem on my old PC but the disc drive on my newer PC is considerably cheaper. I've heard some disc drives simply refuse completely in which case you'll have to download the entire game unfortunately.

Nope the probs with the protection only occur when your Firmware is not up to date. Like a Blu-Ray Bplayer every drive needs updates to read the newest disks and protection.

I haven’t made any progress. The latest drivers for my disk drive are from 2008. You could say my disk drive is simply too old. According to Origin the download will take about 3 hours so I suppose it isn’t all that bad.

Thanks for your help.
