Okay, I got stumped, looked here, and it says: go to pool, fill jug, take jug to alter, kneel to pray, take sip, take jug and put back in pool.

However... after I get to the kneel to pray part, it says something's been added to my inventory (I never can figure out what) and there's NEVER an opportunity to sip from the jug.  Is this a glitch?  I never get the key for the doors, I can only sip from the jug prior to placing it (filled) on the alter.  What do I do now?
