I know the picture comes from Mass Effect 2 (and no, I didn't do the photoshop. It belongs to whoever did it), but I thought it was too awesome to pass up. If people want me to take it off, let me know.

Anyways, enjoy.

Must take some talent to play the guitar with only three fingers.

And that's why she's THE BEST GODDAM GUITARIST ON RANNOCH!!!!

You do of course realise that it's only from the waist down, right?

I believe that Cerberus also gave him upgraded bones or something in ME2 (He can walk/ limp without assistance).

What? With our writers, its best we lend our character's fate to far more capable hands...

The doctor doesn't intervein with fixed points.=]

Anyone ever noticed that the "Suicide Mission" song on the ME2 soundtrack and the Dr. Who "I am the Doctor" song are very similiar at certain key points?

Then why, in one of his little Zaeed-style conversations, does he say "I could break a rib if I sneeze too hard"? Or mention if he's supposed to "break his arm" at the Collector's in ME2?

It's a small instance of the developement team just overlooking a detail about a character for the sake of doing something mildly cool. A detail that's integral to the character.

But oh well...

I always chalked that up to Joker being Joker. Same way he says that he "fractured his thumb on the mute." If that were true, then why isn't he in Sick Bay yet?

You were probably busy speculating. Or crying.

Or both.
At the same time.

Nothings wrong with the animation, Traynor said she had the quartz chess set at home. On Earth.

The holographic one is a replacement one she picked up so the two of you could play.

Not sure if that was meant to be a joke, but Joker's disease affects his whole body. In the worst-case ME2 ending, Joker will attempt to pull Shepard up into the Normandy, but his arm gets injured.

Joker wants to have a word with you.

Whether that statement gets retconned in ME2 or re-retconned in ME3 is up for debate, but Joker specifically states it is only the bones in his legs.

Probably got retconned in that case, cause remember the beginning of ME2? The normandy exploding, and Joker crying out "whoa watch the arm!"  when Shepard grabs him.

And then there is also the moment the collectors are invading the SR-2 and we control Joker. If you remember the way he walked, and the asymetrical way how he also carried his torso and arms, I seriously doubt his illness is only from the waist down.

I was wondering about this myself. I just had a flashback to the beginning of ME2 where Shepard grabbed his arm and I heard a bone crack when he did this. It might have been the Cerberus upgrades helping him out though...

With the disease I believe that it affects his whole body, but affects his lower body the worst considering that that section receives the most pressure on a constant basis, kind of like "Glass Man" from Unbreakable.

I suspect Shepard was kinda rough when he hauled Joker's ass out of the cockpit, so that comment of his is eaisly explainable.

And for the second thing, I doubt it's easy walking with legs that could break any moment, so him walking funny is kinda logical. Doesn't mean his disease affects more than his legs.

I also think Joker would've died several times of if all of his body was affected by his BBD, especially when he crashes during the suicide mission.

I suspect they retconned Joker's disease without telling us directly. The way he describes Vrolik's Syndrome in ME1 is, well, wrong.

That's why we get lines like (paraphrasing from memory here):
"Fractured my thumb on the mute, but I think I made my point."
"Well what can I do against Collectors? Break my arm at them?"
"I break ribs if I sneeze too hard. Being able to move crap with your mind is NOT a handicap."

As for him cracking his knuckles...

Posted Image

...we know by now that the writing team and the art team don't always communicate that well.

First of all, this

Born in 2155, Joker's upbringing and career have been colored by his health. Joker has a moderate to severe case of Vrolik syndrome, which causes extreme brittleness in the bones; he was born with severe fractures to his legs and even with modern medicine he finds walking nearly impossible, relying on crutches and leg braces.

Second, the line "Well what can I do against Collectors? Break my arm at them?" doesn't really say anything. I'd like to see you try and hit a Collector (pretty much half synthetic bugs) without any protection nor any upper body strength without atleast somewhat getting injured. You are reading to much into those lines. But the way Joker's disease is presented is pretty inconsistent.
