I believe those birds are called bluetits (I imagine ****** is filtered so I'll just add 'a word beginning with t for breasts').

The use of the word "clarify" is unsettling to me as well.

Unless it's a cliffhanger, you shouldn't need to clarify the ending, especially the ending of a trilogy. It should be clear and simple. Simple isn't bad.
