I have come to a conclusion after much ****ing and moaning and heart break over the ending of my favorite science fiction series. James Vega, your new squadmate, should have only been there if you had not romanced anyone. In his place you should have had you ME2 love interest to pal around the galaxy with and save everyone. He was literally the only character I had no interest in, I talked to the shuttle guy more then him because he was just some uninteresting jar head. Why spend so much resources on making a NEW character to get attached to when you had resources already invested in more fleshed out characters? It makes 0 sense.

I do not see this as a selfish "I want to see my char make babies" idea, I view it through the scope of If I saw the galaxy crumbling around me, you'd bet your ass my LI would be with me the entire time because we could die at any moment. That makes the time they'd spend together all the more precious. Perhaps I am soured by the lame treatment that Jack got, yes it was nice to see Shepard had helped her BUT to have her not come with him when he was the man that dragged her out of the abyss of isolation and abuse to the more healthy individual she is... there's no way she'd not want to be with him for the ending ride. That's not even mentioning the bigger punch to the teeth that were Thane and Jacob.

I know it's been said before how poorly the ME2 LI's were handeld but this idea to me, just seems SO PLAINLY OBVIOUS that I cannot fathom how they did not think of this idea themselves. Are Bioware writes really that shallow?

Would appreciate some feedback for that idea, even if it is to late. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

Unless, of course, you romanced Jacob. That would be...awkward.

Yeah I mean out of all the characters the decimation of Jacob as a likeable character has to rank as one of the top in videogame history.

A small fanbase further crippled by his actions.

Yes, they should totally implement 4 ME2 characters as full squad members. But only limit people to 1 each, maybe, and base that on an import.

On second thought, maybe that's a bad idea. If they have the budget to implement 4 more squad members, limiting them like that makes no bleeding sense.

You should have talked to Vega more. He's actually a pretty interesting character and pretty likable.

I'm just saying, if they wanted to limit you to that many squadmates why pidgeon-hole you into having this new random dude I do not care about? It would have made more sense to have that "slot" filled by whoever your character was interested in to have something right then and there to look at and go "this is what I'm fighting for" and a lot of the LI's wouldn't have had to have their relations totally ruined/fubared into 8 second cutscenes with no culmination/closure.

I mean, he was OK I just really didn't care about him. He was just some dumb jar head to me whose only emotional grab was that he got his squad killed and whether he should join N7 when it's all over(which isn't happening anyway it seems, mind you). He would have been cool if he hadn't of taken the place of other characters that were obviously more important to people is my main gripe I suppose.

Where do you get the idea that they just wanted to limit the numbers on the squad list? No, they wanted to implement fewer, but have them do more stuff. There's a lot more dialogue with each member now. They all have comments after almost every mission.

It's not about just the number. But about the actual content to create and implement. 4 more characters is not a tradeoff for 1 character.

the decimation of Jacob

Please make it stop. If a unit is decimated then it is reduced to 90% strength (i.e. pretty nearly ideal outcome rather than dismal failure).

I was going to make the argument that there is no way they didn't have the resources to do something like that, but then I thought about the ending :-/. A lot of it was auto-dialogue anyway so I'm still gonna stick to my guns and say it would have had a better outcome. Even having less lines for Jack/Miranda/Thane etc would be a VAST improvement to what we got out of them in ME3... I mean, did you romance Liara or something? Cause we got shafted pretty hard to have our LI replaced by a character I never even brought with me past the first mission.

I haven't played the first game, but I remember Kaidan showing up in the second one.

To me, it feels like all the human squadmates throughout the series lack personality. Miranda was a bit of an exception, but I still didn't care for her as a character. Maybe it's that they seem like normal people in a big fantasy space world that makes them utterly boring.

As for Vega, you can cut and paste him into any movie. I don't think you'd have to change much of his dialogue to make it fit.
