I've bought the russian CE edition of ME3 and updated the language to english (this was the only way I could get my hands on a legal CE version of ME3) Posted Image

Everything works fine, except one nuisance: in the cutscenes, the dialog sound is slightly out of sync with the lip movement (the lip movement comes about 0.5 a 1 second after the sound)
And this is a consistent problem (the problem is always there)

For me this is rather annoying since I love all the cutscenes in the ME games, but watching them out of sync takes a lot of the magic away (it's annoying to be honest)

Is this a bug which other users also have encountered ?

I have the English version and in the demo and game there was never any lip sink. This was one of my biggest announces so far. (It's messes with my immersion feeling.) I could swear they were find in ME 1&2 but maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

ok, thanks Shades2585. Good to know I'm not the only one with this problem

I've played ME2 again in the week before the ME3 release (had to do something while awaiting the release :) )and there the sound & lip movement were perfectly in sync.

yup there are plenty of places where lipsync is non-excistant.

Same thing here with me. It's very distracting because, like a reflection on your TV, once you notice it you just can't stop seeing it.

It's a video game people....Video games (PC games, PS3, 360 what have you) rarely have life-like facial animation/voice matching/ lip-syncing....it's damn hard to replicate. The only CGI that I've seen with perfect lip-syncing is Final Fantasy The Spirits Within. I"ve never seen it done to perfection in any game, because the Developers don't invest the money, time or resources in using motion-capture equipment like they do in movies (take Avatar for example). In my experience and opnion, until the Video Game Industry starts using this equipment (or develops other ways to replicate the same results), the Movie Industry will always have the upper hand, and Games will suffer from the unfortunate but now common place occurance of face/voice being out of sync no matter how life-like the skin, hair and other facial textures might be.    That being said, however, I think the Mass Effect Franchise-- even going as far back as the Original in 2007-08, was just about as realistic as could possibly be accomplished given the equipment and software that was being used.  Bioware has made some very impressive break-throughs in the Gaming industry and Mass Effect 3 is a testament to the creativity and talent of (what is in my opnion) the best Game Development company in the world.

My thoughts exactly. The intro has no sink AT ALL! And considering this it everybodys initial experience I thought this was very poor. ME1&2 was much better at this. I wonder why they regressed here when just about everything else seem to have gotten better. <_<

Just adding to the post. Using onboard audio, my PCI-E SoundCard, or my USB headset, there is a delay on the audio of about 0.5 seconds. It's driving me nuts because I never saw this in previous games and there is no slider to adjust the audio sync anywhere.

As for 'no perfect lip sync', Try SW:TOR. I have no audio sync issues there. (I didn't have it in ME2 either...)

@EnergizerBunny211 : to clarify: I'm not complaining that the lip movements do not mimic the words with 100% accuracy, on the contrary: the movement of the lips/mouth corresponds nicely with what is being said.

However: the movements themselves just come later that the words being said.
The sound starts 0.5-1 sec before the lip movements and at the end of a sentence, the lips keep moving for about 0.5-1 sec even though the sentence is completed audio-wise

:)

Asus Xonar DX (hooked to 5.1 speakers), Realtek onboard (hooked to seperate crappy 2.1 speakers), and Creative Labs Sigma for USB audio. As rouchken said, audio is good at starting after the lips are moving and ending while they are still mouthing. "Hackett Out" is heard usually after he's completely disappeared even though, you can read his lips saying it.

My problem is the opposite. The mouth stops but the audio is still speaking. Because of this the audio doesn't alwas complete the sentence. It just fades out. Very annoying.
I have realtek (onboard) chipset btw.

Same issue here using a Sound Blaster X-Fi. It seems to be more than a lip-sync issue and more of a sound delay issue during conversations and cutscenes. Other sounds, like the enemy cutting through a door are also delayed in cutscenes.

I noticed the lip syncing got worse if I had my graphics too high. But it is almost perfect when I lowered my settings. Also in Nvidia Console I had to downgrade it and state it as Application controlled. The lip syncing is bad in some areas but in others its dead on. The higher your graphics and such the more delay you will notice. Try lowering the settings to see it for yourself.

I thought the same thing and even though I am getting 60FPS (measured via FRAPS) with all ingame settings turned up (@1920x1080) I lowered to see if there was a difference. Video card settings are set to default via AMD's CCC. In game I turned off dynamic shadows and AA. Used the ini fix to turn off vsync and the "smoothfps" option. Still had the delay. I should also note that the sound while playing is perfectly in sync. This only seems to be a cutsceen and conversation issue.

I can try more later. I'll even try it on 2 other PCs I have and update results here.

Specs for this PC:

Intel Core 2 Quad q6600 overlocked to 3.35 Ghz
AMD Radeon 5870 1GB (Factory overclocked)
4 GB DDR3
Sound Blaster X-Fi

Hmm. I thought it was just me. I dont remember noticing this when on my first 3 ME3 playhthroughs but now im noticing it and once you notice it, you cant unnotice it. Kinda having MSAA for a while then turning it off. I dont think its my computer, its really high specced with Dual graphics cards. Never had aproblem like this before. Anyone come across a fix for it?

The lip syncing in this game compared to the previous two his horrendous. I've made multiple comments about this on several posts. I hope BioWare can do something about it.

I made a post about it myself a while back as well. Actually, it seemed to disappear when I tested it with built-in sound, but that was just a single scene test. The quality of the built-in chip is low, so it's not really an option.

On my first playthrough it was very obvious from the start, but on my second it seemed that initially it was accurate. But as I went through the game the lipsync randomly started becoming around half-a-second early or late again.

There's no fix, it's an issue with the game, only Bioware can fix this but i doubt they will, this should have been done during development, to do it in a patch would take quite alot of resources i would imagine, that's what you get for trying to make a cheap buck huh Bioware.

I agree, i'm pretty sure bioware wont ever fix it, all they care about is Multiplayer because thats where they get their money.

Weird how some people araen't experiencing it
