Not an ending thread per se (not an ending love or hate thread). Just a question about ME3 and Sovereign's actions in ME1

Why Sovereign needed Saren to infiltrate Citadel, to take control of and activate it to call the Reapers?
If Guardian controls Reapers and if Guardian is the heart of Citadel (and can access galactic intel directly) why Reapers needed to leave Sovereign behind as vanguard and gatekeeper before returning to dark space?
Why Guardian needed Sovereign as a proxy?
I think the presence of a guardian controlling Reapers invalidates the ME trilogy Reaper plot and makes Reapers look like weaklings. Their charisma gone and all...
Thoughts?

Vigil said it itself, that Sovereign wasn't able to do what it needed because, as could be seen, Reapers are not invincible. The Protheans didn't have this opportunity, they were spread out and when it was time the Indoctrinated already did what was needed for the Reaper to activate the citadel.
Though that also begs the question, with Reapers in masses and spreading the Galaxy, why didn't they hit the Citadel first instead of waste time with Earth? That's what got me bogged. With the amount of forces required to battle the Reaper fleet, they could of easily skipped Earth once reaching the Relay and just stormed the Citadel instead. But I guess that's what t he Illusive Man tried to do with their attempt a coupe - don't think it was even necessary with the forces the Reapers could spare to attack Palaven and Thessia.

I have no problems with that part. Reapers are facinated with humans and they want to ascend human race to Reaper status. A ground assault on Earth (I mean no megaton scale kinetic impacts) before attackling other civilizations makes sense.
But if Guardian is there how can we validate Mass Efffect 1 plot? Why Guardian did not open the relay by itself when the harvesting time came back in ME1 prequel novel?

Because the Keepers were the ones programmed to initiate the command and the Prothean team that got through the Conduit managed to subdue those directives so they wouldn't respond when signaled. It's as though the Catalyst is always sleeping until being awoken, either through command or via the Crucible. That is why it happened for Shepard this cycle but didn't work when Sovereign originally tried.
But alas I fail to see how assaulting Earth would be more successful. The Protheans fell because the Reapers hit the Citadel first and through it gained control of the Relays. By the time the Protheans figured it out, those on the Citadel would be dead.
This tactic would of worked flawlessly if the Reapers did just that, it'd take them longer but considering how quickly they spread throughout the galaxy when this game takes place, it wouldn't of been that difficult.

Reapers think that they can always destroy other races. Nobody can stand against us they say. But humanity ala Shepard defeated us 2 times before. They are dangerous, capable and worthy of becoming Reapers.
Also when you go to Citadel you see that Turian homeworld is under attack too. So actually they attack Earth first but when you leave the Citadel for the first time and luse the Normandy galaxy map you see that Reapers are already invading the rest of the galaxy.
They do not delay after attacking first Battarians than Earth... Such negligible delay would not give other civilizations to bolster their defenses significantly...
The funny thing about Earth is that Shepard is the most dangerous person for Reapers. So why they did not try to assassinate him when he was on trial, that's beyond me. Indoctrinated Illusive Man and his Cerberus goons, Kai Leng (sp?) could do that.
