The dialogue wheel is really lean in this game...

Most of the time there are only two very basic options for dialogue (paragon or renegade) with no neutral response. There are fewer investigate options. I am sure that I could count on two hands the number of opportunities to use charm or intimidate that were offered (almost all for the Illusive Man, at that). And there is way more auto dialogue than ME2.
I blame the Kinect for this one. Can't have too many dialogue options while utilizing the Kinect, otherwise you have to program recognition for every single one of them.
Or it was just lazy writing.

I don't particularly think it was lazy writing... I was perfectly fine with most of Shepard's dialogue and the wheel showed up exactly when I would have wanted to say something. (Except during the ending, of course.)

And the Kinect was not a last minute idea. It was announced last summer, which means programming for it would had to have begun far before that. I sincerely believe that ME3 was dumbed down for Kinect, and unfortunately all platforms had to suffer for it.

Hm. If you go back to the first two games, the difference in options is jarring.

Playing devil's advocate, there are some points in both games where the dialogue wheel is a bit unecessary for normal coversation or comments. Particularly, there are points where both the "up" and "down" options say almost the exact same thing.

Well, I know in ME, some of the neutral responses, even with different text, used the same response as another choice. Sometimes the choice was simply an illusion. And in ME2 there were definitely a lot of 2-response dialogues, so I'm not surprised. But I'll agree on the lack of Charm/Intimidate. Half the time you used it it didn't even work.Neo Hex Omega wrote...
Anyone else disappointed with the dialogue options in the third game?

As for the auto-dialogue, it was used very well in this game. I loved being able to go around the ship and hear Garrus and James swap accomplishments, or Jarik complaining to EDI about AIs, or whatever. And then you could talk to some characters as well Zaeed/Kasumi-in-ME2, which actually worked because they said interesting things and Shepard would sometimes respond. And there were still normal conversations you could have on the Normandy/Citadel.
Overall, I really don't know who to blame for the 2 dialogue complaints I have, which is A) Renegade sucks this game, Commander Shepard is now a wuss, not a badass, and

I agree. Feels like every new BW game that comes out they make everything more simplier.. what next? An game where we can't choose any choices or dialogue options and the game is automatically played for you.. well ME3 was kinda like that half of the time.

Same here. I did notice that just like in DA2, your choice in tone carry through out the conversation.rolson00 wrote...
yes i agree in me3 i feel like we have less control over our shepards than in ME 1& 2
Like when you talk to the IM on Mars, if you chose that Shepard would be nice he would later tell IM that that he would not be helping him controll the Reapers but if you desided that Shepard was angry then Shepard would say "Go to hell!" instead.
Same throughout the game. A nice Shepard will continue to talk nice but an renegade Shepard will continue being angry. So you make one choice and Shepard continue in that tone untill you get a new chance to chose.
But still, I agree that we should have gotten more choices in the game. It's always only 2 choices to make. And no more middle. Shepard hates something or loves it but he is never just OK with it.
