I read alot about this bug on other forums (italian forums), don't know if it's a problem with the Italian version only, the N7 edition or something else, but basically A LOT of people, myself included, are experiencing an hard lock of the 360 during the first loading screen before the Grissom Academy quest (the loading screen with the image of the Academy, after the squadmates selection and the weapon selection). It's not a dvd problem or a console problem, I've visited 4 or 5 italian videogames forum and basically everyone are experiencing this. I've tried the usual stuff: from HDD, from discs, clear cache, change resolution, quick save, auto save, you name it. Nothing.
This is a BIG issue, since the quest fails after a certain point in the game.

Any solutions?

EDIT: It seems it's affecting every italian copy of the 360 version

Hi, all!

We're still investigating this issue, and I don't have any news to report yet. I did want to let you know that we are working on this, though.

Hmm. It seems like the other issue is a different issue. We're still investigating, though.

I can't give an ETA just yet, we're still investigating.

Thanks for the added information! I guess I should clarify: our ongoing investigation isn't just based on "is this actually happening?" We just need a more complete understanding of the exact nature of the issue -- we need to know every precise variable that is contributing to it.

Simply put: this is high-priority for us, but it's complicated and so it's taking some time.

Thanks for your continued patience!

We do have it as high priority. :)

Hi, all! Sorry for the lack of updates.

We have had different members of the team working 24 hours a day to try to understand this issue. What I'm going to say next is going to sound illogical, given the frequency of the issue, but it's the truth: this is a very, very complicated issue.

It *seems* like a "race condition". That is, the outcome of a function is dependent upon very specific timing and output of other functions. As others have mentioned, this doesn't seem to affect other language builds... so that complicates things further.

I understand your frustration. :(

Please know that we're continuing to work on this, though. I can't promise anything (asking for an ETA for these sorts of things is like asking how long it will take to find your lost keys) but hopefully we'll have more information soon.

a question for Chirs or Ryan, when the patch will be ready there is a possibility to have from Microsoft a quick approvation for the patch, or the approvation will take a week as usual?

thank you in advance

It's hard to say, at the moment. We'll be doing everything we can to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Sorry, it's really hard to provide an ETA for these sorts of things. It's like asking when you're going to find your lost keys. :)

We're working on it, though!

Hi, all!

It's been a while since I posted, but I unfortunately don't have an update for you yet. We're still working on it.

Hi, all!

We're still working on it -- we haven't forgotten about you. Programming is still looking at the race condition, to be sure that it is the cause of the issue (and isn't just obscuring the real cause). QA has been getting builds from all over the world, so that we can see in which build version number the issue was introduced.

I'll post another update soon.

Yeah, we don't really need more details at this point, but thanks very much for all the help! I'll ask for more information if we need it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update Ryan. I'm curious to know why this bug occured only in the Italian version but I know you have other priorities, namely fixing the bug, other then investigate on such matter.

I'm look foward to the next update.

We're curious too.  :) That's part of our investigation, as it may be important to how this gets fixed.

I'm not a compute engineer or a programmer, and i'm on the 'let them work quietly' side of the barricade...but i think it could be a piece of cake for bioware to put a working fre DLC for that quest on Xbox Live...P.S.: only my opinion, don't really know wich technical obstacles that would involve..

That's really hard to do but, more importantly, has never been implemented or tested. We don't want to accidentally introduce another issue.

It could also potentially take much longer.

Hi, all!

We've managed to create a crash dump, which is something that our programmers can use to help them with their investigations. It's too early to be able to know for sure, but hopefully I'll have more (and better) news for you tomorrow.

I didn't detect sarcasm in the above post, but that's a good point. If you would like me to hold off on the updates until I have something substantial to report, please let me know. I don't want to spam you on top of everything else. :)

I have the same problem :crying:

I also noticed an error in the talent screen Defense Matrix (Matrice di difesa) of EDI (IDA). On the rank 4 Durability (Durabilità) appear this message:

{UNRECOGNIZED DATA:Evolve_DamageReductionBonus}

I have posted a screenshot here http://i41.tinypic.com/2s1nm6h.jpg

I'm not an expert but I suppose this affects only the text description. It shouldn't affect the actual gameplay. Just take it with the so called pinch of salt.
I have to check the EDI power screen too, I didn't remeber to have noticed it.

Ugh, yeah, I remember that. That was something that changed at the last minute and we didn't have time to update the translations. That only affects the text description, though, and not the gameplay.

You are allowed to spam about it ;) else the crowd will go in rage!
Imagine a thousand krogans charging.. that's what Italians are capable of :P

Yeah, that's also a difficult issue. I believe some devs are watching that thread, though. Please do continue to update in that thread, particularly with system specifications (which Xbox 360 you have, which language SKU you're trying to play on, whether you have a Kinect sensor attached, etc.).

Thanks!

Even so, i'm happy that Bioware reply to the comunity, still i'm not happy that after a week the reply is "we think to have understood the problem", so what? Do you think to solve it and when? I'd like to hear something alike. To me the "race condition" has no meainig, i can't understend that, to me it should be a problem with Turian? o Asari? What race? To made the campagin should i bring Sheppard and Vega only? What... Or Race is a word used to define a runtime error?

Actually it's a "race" like a car race. Basically it's a timing issue -- a piece of code is starting the race before it's his turn.

Forgive me if the question appears illogical but changing the console language set may help? Is it worth of an attempt or is completely useless.

Thanks.

For the black screen issue? It's unlikely that changing the console language will help, but it's possible. My main focus is the Grissom Academy issue, though -- this is what I spend all day (and much of the night) on.

Sorry if I ask it again: changing the language setting of our console may be worth of an attempt or it's completely useless.
Forgive me if it appears an illogical question.

No, changing the language does not fix the Grissom Academy issue (unfortunately).  :(

Ok, I think I'm caught up on this thread. :)

We've made some real progress with the crash dump, and *think* that we have identified a file that caused this problem. We're continuing to investigate what is different about this file (in the various build numbers) because some build numbers reproduce this issue and some build numbers do not. (Please note, all retail copies reproduce this issue. When I talk about build numbers, I just mean the ones that we created at various points in the project).

We are also working with our external partners to ensure that we can get a fix out to you as soon as possible. We will absolutely NOT be holding a fix back if we have one -- we will make it available however we can, as soon as possible.

I don't have an ETA for a fix yet, but it *seems* like we've made some progress. I'll have more updates soon.

Thanks!
