Grissom Academy quest: loading screen freeze bug
#601
Posté 14 mars 2012 - 05:08
I'm getting the Grissom Academy bug with this configuration:
XBOX 360 250 Gb Elite edition.
XBox Dashboard updated to the last version
Kinect unit attached to the console using his own connector
Mass Effect 3 Alliance Edition, localized ITA, Disc 1 and Disc 2 installed on the hard drive
Registered EA Account, Galaxy War activated
Using Microsoft original Xbox controller
Full HD console resolution
Internet access provided using Wi-FI connection, WPA key.
Some Marketplace app installed, Facebook, MSN, Zune video, Premium Play
No Cloud usage
Using XBox Live account to signup, Gold membership
When loading Academy mission, the disk drive spins for 4-5 seconds before freezing. Sometimes the disc icon make 2-3 rotation before freeze, sometimes take little more time to lock.
Thank you.

For example I don't have Kinect installed, neither facebook apps and similar like the player who posted above but I still got the bug.

A different set up from the last configuration I read before posting but still the bug.
We all have Elite 250gb but I heard the bug occured wit older console too.

For everyone else: I do not want to finish the game without that mission and then restart it. Enough to justify them! They have produced something that works abnormally. The fact that they are working for the resolution does not elevate them to the gods. For them it is a duty to run for cover. Not a courtesy. Remember that!

Actually it's a "race" like a car race. Basically it's a timing issue -- a piece of code is starting the race before it's his turn.

Sorry if I ask it again: changing the language setting of our console may be worth of an attempt or it's completely useless.Ryan Warden wrote...

Forgive me if it appears an illogical question.

Please do continue to update in that thread, particularly with system specifications (which Xbox 360 you have, which language SKU you're trying to play on, whether you have a Kinect sensor attached, etc.).
Thanks!
Forgive me if the question appears illogical but changing the console language set may help? Is it worth of an attempt or is completely useless.
Thanks.
For the black screen issue? It's unlikely that changing the console language will help, but it's possible. My main focus is the Grissom Academy issue, though -- this is what I spend all day (and much of the night) on.

No, changing the language does not fix the Grissom Academy issue (unfortunately).

We've made some real progress with the crash dump, and *think* that we have identified a file that caused this problem. We're continuing to investigate what is different about this file (in the various build numbers) because some build numbers reproduce this issue and some build numbers do not. (Please note, all retail copies reproduce this issue. When I talk about build numbers, I just mean the ones that we created at various points in the project).
We are also working with our external partners to ensure that we can get a fix out to you as soon as possible. We will absolutely NOT be holding a fix back if we have one -- we will make it available however we can, as soon as possible.
I don't have an ETA for a fix yet, but it *seems* like we've made some progress. I'll have more updates soon.
Thanks!

Sorry mate I disagree with you and the
others that posts "BW are helping us" or "BW is pissed off like us" and
so on because I pretty sure that this bug is related only to a lack of
beta testing (begin of the game, one of the most important side quests
for fans etc) so BW, as company, cannot pissed off because they have the
ultimate responsability of the game (with EA off course) and they
choose beta testing protocols and all other things about the release of
the Italian version of the game. A third party is involved? I don't
know. EA is a very big company, probably the biggest, and maybe that, in
an economically point of view, they decided to have an internal team to
test the localized versions but even if a third party is involved this
is a "qualified" third party (assures the quality of its work to EA) so
again EA/BW is always responsible.
This is not the
point, as Ryan said the problem wasn't present in the italian Dev
version of the game, something appenend for sure but the bug was
introduced during the CD print. Unless Bioware want to deceive us with fake report (and why should they do so?) the only thing i can think of is that we are unlucky.
We could think any sort of events, a friend of mine told me for example that someone in EA damaged the master casue Italians got the Alliance Edition and someone made us pay for it. I think all that sort of thing are unrealistic, and more of that, a world wide developer like Bioware have nothing to gain leaving unresolved a bug like that. I simply would like to have a patch as soon as possible, without waiting for a mega patch.

I know you don't have an ETA but unofficially it's more likely a matter of days, weeks or months?
I'm very glad to read your recent progress. Keep us informed and thank you.

Good ponit, in that quest i noticed something...strange. During the loading of the missione (i'm on the disk one) i see "save" and "load" on the screen one of the Right and the other on the left, might it be a clue i've no idea but i dident see that king of event in other phases of the game so far.

Ryan, from what I know you are a programmer and you are part of BioWare localization team, so you have the skills to let us know a possible estimated time needed to have the patch released.
At least let us know the minimum time needed.
All the rest is just placebo (or sugar pills).
Thanks

It's *probably* not days, and it's *probably* not months. We can *probably* have a fix within weeks, but I can't guarantee any of that. There are a lot of variables that contribute to the amount of time that it will take (including, but not limited to): how do we deliver the fix? How long does certification of the fix take? Do we have to factor in manufacturing and shipping?
And all of that comes after we implement and test the fix, which is going to take some time as well. So it's *probably* going to be weeks... but I can't guarantee that.
I'll continue to post updates in the meantime.
