It's really impossible to give an ETA, and I don't want to give you any false hope. If I say "weeks", and it's not (due to reasons that are out of our control) then that's just going to increase anger.

It's *probably* not days, and it's *probably* not months. We can *probably* have a fix within weeks, but I can't guarantee any of that. There are a lot of variables that contribute to the amount of time that it will take (including, but not limited to): how do we deliver the fix? How long does certification of the fix take? Do we have to factor in manufacturing and shipping?

And all of that comes after we implement and test the fix, which is going to take some time as well. So it's *probably* going to be weeks... but I can't guarantee that.

I'll continue to post updates in the meantime.

What is an ETA? sorry for my ignorance xD

rayan if u make a DLC, in only italian languages, about this secondary mission, can the issue be resolved?

It's difficult to know for sure. Most of the time, DLC only adds on to existing content. Any time that we replace existing content, we're introducing a huge amount of risk. Further to that, any DLC would have to go through the Microsoft certification process and we would still be a couple weeks away from release.

Frankly, I'd rather continue down the path that we're currently going. It might seem to be taking a long time, but there is much less risk associated with it than anything that we might do to try to speed things up. I don't want to introduce more issues by trying to fix one.

But how come it only happens to us Italians? The code changes are so substantial in each country?

We're still investigating, so I can't give a definitive answer. So far it seems to be: you're just unlucky.  :(

According to our current progress, this doesn't seem to be a localization issue; it just happened to affect the Italian SKU, and only the Italian SKU. We're still investigating, though...

Sorry, SKU stands for Stock Keeping Unit. It's a retail term used to distinguish between unique items (in this case, the Italian build).

So far it seems to be always present, and is not influenced by other game conditions.

I'm going to head off for the night, guys! We still have more tests to run, which is certainly going to bleed into tomorrow (at least). I'll provide more information as I have it.

Thanks for the updates and I knew it would have taken that much longer, knowning the certification times and so on..

That's why I have returned my Italian copy, got a refund and waiting a working one from Amazon.co.uk.
I wish I bought it from there in the first place, but the worst that I'll have to do is dealing with my brother cursing the Italian testers which had such an oversight on that problem on the italian sku! :P

That's the last time for me that I buy something for Xbox that has endured full Italian localization.

To be clear, this is not a localization problem. This just happens to affect the Italian build; it's just bad luck.

It's been posted on this thread that the grissom acadamy bug affects only the N7 edition of ME3.

Maybe it's already been reported but the normal edition has this bug as well..

That's correct. This issue applies to all Italian retail copies.

Hi, all!

We've made some progress, but I need to wait for the next QA shift to start before I'll have another update for you. I should know more within a couple hours (hopefully).

It's probably going to be a few more hours before I know anything. We're transferring a LOT of data across the world, and it's taking some time.

More news later today!

Ryan today i called EA, the operator told me that he has news about this fix almost every hour and that the ETA is matter of days, what's going on?

Well, that's... interesting. I'm not sure what information he has, but it's likely more out of date than mine.  ;)

Ryan, with the next patch will you guys correct those wrong multiplayer strings of text?

Unfortunately, I think it's unlikely with the next patch. The next patch will contain fixes for our highest-priority issues, and the text issues are lower in priority than some of the things we're working on right now.

Sorry for the lack of replies. I've been away from my desk all day, chasing down more information on this issue. Here's what we know so far:

The "race condition" seems like it wasn't the true issue; it was masking the true issue. We believe that we have identified what is causing the issue and we are moving forward with three priorities:
1) Investigating to make sure that Grissom Academy is the only level affected by this (we are pretty sure that it is, but we want to be positive)
2) Investigating a fix. This should be fairly easy once we have the results of 1).
3) Investigating how to get this fix out to you. Depending upon the results of 1) and 2) there may be different methods that we have to use. For instance, we're only able to issue a patch for very specific kinds of fixes. We may have a downloadable option, but it might not qualify as a "patch".

So our programming teams and QA teams are quite busy right now, and we hope to have good news for you within the next couple of days -- certainly by early next week. In the meantime we're working with all our external partners to determine how we can get a fix out to you as soon as possible.

Thanks again for your patience. I'm sorry the news wasn't better, but we're much closer now!

You're right. I was defending Ryan...

Sorry about that! I speak Italian a little bit, and I was confused. I'll stick to English in the future (and thanks for the defence).  :)

It's nice to hear about your progress. it gives us hope.
Just a question: the downloadable option will de facto function like a patch or an update?
I mean we play the game and we see a message telling us to download the update or is something different?

Thanks for the info, Ryan. We'll await your next update.

Yes, it would work very much like that -- you'd might see a prompt telling you to get an update, but if that isn't possible (for whatever reason) we would let you know via the forums (in this thread) how to get the fix.

I just wanted to specify that it might not technically be a patch -- it might just function like one.

Hi, all!

I have just a short progress update for you. We've identified 18 files on the disc that contribute to this issue. We're working to fix them and to test them thoroughly.

That's going to take some time, so I stand by my earlier estimate: we should probably expect resolution of this issue early next week (unless something else happens). At that point we can start the process of getting a fix out to you.

Hi, all!

Can we please avoid posting fake spoilers in here? Peoples' blood pressures are already a little high, and I'd like to avoid artificially raising them. :)

Also, it goes without saying, please don't post real spoilers either.

Thanks!

i hope to see the patch before the next week end or at last the 20 of march with the update of the marketplace. more than 2 weeks begin to be a very long time to wait. the patience is the virtue of the strong, let's have faith :-)

18 files? but they're a lot!!

I think that it will be impossible to provide a patch before the next weekend. We won't be able to have reliably tested a fix until at least Monday or Tuesday, and there is a patch certification process that takes a couple weeks too.

Sorry, I wish I could give you better news. On the bright side, we're doing everything we can.

Is there going to be a fix for u.s versions of this too? I have the same problem with the load screen freezing at the end of the mission.

The issue being discussed in this thread only affects the Italian SKU, and has a freeze at the start of the mission. It sounds like you (unfortunately) have a different issue.  :(
