Erm... It's not that much effort to make a gay romance, since they basically have male and female shepard's romance done up. They just merely exposing certain character's dialog options for opposite sex.

Fair enough.

I just look at a lot of gaming news sites...and it seems like everyone is talking about the gay scene...

When they should be talking about the horrible ending to an amazing series.

That's all I was driving at.

Bring the rage folks.

Well the simple fact is my shepard isn't gay and he never will be. i made sure by being extremely mean to james vega. but yeah i'm not to big on the whole shepard's all of a sudden bisexual now they should have done this from the beginning if they wanted too. it kinda goes against the born this way thing.

I think that the biggest failing with the gay stuff is that they didn't go far enough.

Every sex scene in the game is pretty graphic...except for the Male/Male ones. The scene between Shep and Cortez doesn't even show them kiss.

It doesn't bug me but I will say I'm jealous:

New romance in ME3 options:
Lesbian romance: At least 3 (Liara, Samantha, Diana, not sure about Ashley)
Straight male romance: 3 (Diana, Liara, Ashley)
Gay romance: 2 (Cortez, Kaidan)
Straight female: 1 (Kaidan)

Good thing I love Kaidan :P But honestly why not make Vega a romance option for straight females. Especially after what they did to Jacob (wtf D:) and Thane.

It was there from the beginning. And even if it wasn't(it is), there's no logic in saying that because there was no same-sex relationship option before that means they're not bisexual.

lol yeah.

I was honestly suprised to even see Jacob in this game. He was such a weak character.

yoshibb, you're only counting the options that can be continued in ME3.

The ME2 romance options are still viable; male players can still continue a relationship with Tali and females can still continue a relationship with Garrus. Furthermore, even the "cameo romances" still acknowledge the relationship (Miranda and male Shepard have heartwarming dialogue, for example, and so do female Shepard and Thane).

I dunno, it's all in the mind of the beholder I guess.

I'm not a gay person, so I didn't envision my maleshep to be gay.

Nothing was meant by my original statement. Like I said, I worded it poorly...but what I meant to say was all these news sites are talking about is gay shep getting it on with another dude...

When what they should be focusing on is the ****** poor ending.

Didn't mean to make people think otherwise.

Ah well, I don't know what I expected. You say something about gay people, you get labelled. It's really sad, but this is how liberalism works. "You either agree with me, or you're a bigot/redneck/republican/idiot."

/shrug.

That you consider 'Republican' and 'redneck' to be the same as 'bigot' means you're ignorant as well as bigoted.

The endings weren't bad because of the addition of a gay romance option, the endings were bad because they lost sight of what most people wanted from the game because most people assumed they would get what they wanted. The gay romance options were added in part because of a vocal part of the community kept pushing for it.

If you want to enact change, in games, politics, anything, you need to have some unified voice (See Operation: Rainfall which was a strong push to make Nintendo bring out Wii games in North America, which was fairly successful and still ongoing).

Maybe ME fans need something like Operation: "Reapers" or something that can be used to actually coordinate fans to push for a Mass Effect version of Broken Steel.

P.S. If someone takes this idea and runs with it, I don't think Operation "Reapers" will be taken seriously as a name :P

I'm not anti-gay...but really guys? You spend 2 games building up the fact that Shepherd is obviously heterosexual...and then you pander to a very small special interest group and allow Shepherd to be gay?

Word?

You had time for that...but not enough time to write an ending that made sense?

Word?

Well, they actually almost did have a DudeShep/Kaidan romance in game one. There's files for it and everything. You can watch the modded vids on Youtube. It just was never completed. So, they're just rectifying a mistake. Truthfully, I wish they'd patch the romance back into the first game.

Plus, my Shep was never straight. In any of the games I played.

Yes, that was my point, unless you played ME2 you only have one option as a straight female. Also, aside from Garrus, the ME2 romances end miserably for femshep. I think Thane's makes sense cause he was already dying but Jacob is just... wow.

why in the hell would you reject miranda?

Have you seen dat ass sir?

But no seriously, I get your point.

Like I said before, it's not about the gay issue...even though trolls on here are calling me a bigot now without reading my subsequent posts.

My op was worded poorly, unforunately. What's being focused on in the news for Mass Effect isn't the fact that the fans feel jipped out of the ending and 6 years (I think it's 6 now) of story....

It's that Shep could possibly enjoy sex with the same sex. OMGWTFBBQSAUCE how groundbreaking...

Really guys?

Wait... Kaiden is bi? Really? That's kind of odd to me. He always seemed like the generic straight guy knight-in-shining armor type. The more you know.

I, for one, am all for the gay relationships aspect. I found Cortez grieving his husband to be an interesting and dramatic side story. Though now that I know he's a possible LI for male Shepard, I don't think I'll be taking up his offer to meet him at Purgatory for a drink Image IPB

Does anyone know if Ashley is a possible LI for FemShep? With Thane not on the Normandy I'll now have a romanceless FemShep besides my Renegade.

My male Shepard is not gay. He is straight as an arrow and only has eyes for Ashley. Still, I am glad that the people who wanted Male Shep to romance Kaiden finally get their chance after waiting three years.

Hetrosexual male players are spoiled for choice while us poor ladies only get one human male. ONE! Still you complain.

Tap dancing christ. The gaming sight writers are idiots then. Or is it the trollol posters on their boards talking about it? Who gives a **** what every insular ass-hat armed with the anonimity of the internet says?! That seems to be the only thing those kind of boards are good for, extreme hyperbole and outlandish controversy generated by people who have nothing better to do with their time.

Don't be ridiculous. Your sexuality is up to you. My canon Shepard is gay and he's madly in love with Kaidan. Thanks God they finally allowed them to be together in Mass Effect 3. xD Your head canon Shepard is straight. Fine for you. But for me, he was gay.
