Greetings, I have the STEAM version of Mass Effect 1. I have updated the game, all my drivers for everything. I can run ME2 & ME3 with absolutely no problems. But anytime I attempt to run ME1 the game just hangs at a black screen with the little blue circle swirling while nothing happens. I have ran it as administrator from the source file, set it to Service pack 2 compatability etc. To no avail. Can someone help? Below are my computers stats.

try to disable firewall and antivirus then try to play game, end other background tasks as well. You should also try to set affinity for mass effect process to 1

I tried those suggestions and no success.
