Very choppy cutscenes - on a system over the minimum requirements #

ME3 arrived today (yay) and I've installed it and decided to try out the beginning. But it runs so choppy, mainly the cutscenes, in some of the cutscenes it is literally like a slideshow.

Now my PC exceeds the minimum requirements without doubt. Also ME2 ran flawlessly, max settings at full 1080p on the exact same PC! Seeing as they're both using the same engine you'd think they'd perform the same (after all ME2 ran better than ME1 AND looked better at the same time!).

I've done all the standard stuff such as close any uneeded background programs, update to latest drivers, disable Origin in-game, overclock GPU, disable AA, disable Catalyst AI in the CCC. I've ran out of ideas. Choppiness persists even on lowest settings. Lowering resolution only helps slightly, not enough.

Please, help! I've been looking forward to this game far to long to have it ruined now!

I'm having the same problem, but not as bad. I notice the chop in the cut scenes and when I first load into a new area or walk into a new big area. It's not constant though. In Multi-player, I also get it a little when I first load in, then it disappears for the rest of the match. I'm also way above min specs, have the latest drivers and ME2 had no problems. I've turned off Origin in game.

The chop stays throughout the cutscenes. Gameplay is a good deal smoother, almost playable even.

It's the cutscenes that are driving me crazy - and this is a hugely story driven game - a large chunk of the game is cutscene! It ruins the immersion completely!

Apologies but I am going to have to bump this.

I view it as quite an important issue, considering I am above minimum requirements and it is rather game-breaking.

I'm having exactly the same problem. The game, especially the cutscenes, is choppy as hell. I easily meet the required specs and ME2 ran great. I've tried all the solutions but nothing works.

ME2 looks and performs better than ME1.

ME3 looks the same as ME2 while performing much worse.

How did this happen?

BioWare what's going on?

Hey I solved my problems. Turns out it was the sound card - I was running sound through my external Line6 Pod X3 which was seriously damaging performance, especially during cutscences. If you're using something similar, maybe try without it.

I haven't messed with the sound card yet.  I'll mess with that when I get home.  I submitted a formal ticket last night with my dxdiag attached, but I haven't gotten a response yet.

I have no external sound card or anything of the sort. Glad to hear you have it fixed.

But I'm not any closer to getting a solution... :(

Have you guys tried to update your graphics drivers?
Have you tried turning off all your background operations? Such as antivirus to see if it helps it?
Have you tried lowering the graphics in the ME3 configuration window?

Also a bit more detail on what system you are running it on can help determine what your issue is....(if you have Vista installed, preseto that's probably your issue btw upgrade to win7 or downgrade to XP, ANYTHING is better then Vista for gaming)

Just wait for driver patches. All new games have this issue because the drivers have to be optimized for them. See Saints Row 3, BF3, Skyrim, and MW3 for examples. Same applies here. There are a lot of places where the shaders go crazy trying to light objects correctly (specially in the first area of the last mission when you are talking to a certain someone).

Not to say that there are not problems for BW to address, because there are, but some of these FPS and lighting issues are because of the video drivers.

Yes, as I said in the first post I've tried all of that. I have Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit.
