Am I weird for thinking the Console version is >>>>> to the PC? Sure the PC looks a lot better(like a LOT better on max), and my comp runs it fine, but I really don't like the controls(maybe it's cause I'm using a laptop, but I doubt it) much and I think the camera is way better on the console..

I don't care much for the tactical, and maybe the only thing that to me the PC is better over the console, is the interface.. I quite like the inventory 'customization'..

Overall, basically I think I'm glad I paid 10bucks more for the console version... even if it means getting late patches and a buggy game(apparently not as buggy as the PC though.. like I don't lose my Blood Dragon Armor in Dwarven Noble etc).

I'm probably gonna get a few "Cool story bros" and "good for yous"(maybe not, I don't know what the BioWare community is like), but I just had to say that.

i think bioware did a pretty amazing job on the console versions.i play the pc version but my sister has the ps3 version and the controls are slick. the ps3 version also seems to have the difficulty levels working correctly. ive noticed some random bugs on the pc version like chasind trail signs not showing up as sparkly points of interest and losing the blood dragon armor. the big sell of the pc version is the eventual user generated content though with the complexity of the toolset im thinking there will be a lot less than say there was with nwn.

and yes a lot of dragon age players are wow refugees so you might indeed get the stale forum responses that are the status quo on the wow forums.

I had the exact opposite opinion. I have the 360 and the PC versions, and i am enjoying the PC version so much more. Not just because of the graphics, but the camera, the controls, the interface, the whole package.

This isn't to say i didn't enjoy the 360 version! I do love being able to laze on my couch and play the game. I think they did as well as they could porting something so complex to the consoles.

One funny thing i find is that while the console versions are supposedly "easier" than the PC version, due to my familiarity and preference for the PC controls, I find the game on the console to be MUCH more challenging.

Rofl, looks like I hit a nerve with Skellimancer and Sloth..

Seems like it burns them to know that some people actually think the console version has a better camera control than the PC version.

I'd probably have the opposite reaction had I played the PC version first, but nah.

not really...i attribute my preference to my RPG background. when you start out on and fall in love with the great games of the PC past like Baldur's Gate, Planescape:Torment, and NWN, the controls and interface in DA:O on the PC are just more intuitive and "fit" better. Because that's the way a game like this, to me at least, is meant to be played.

It's a bias, yes, but i know that and admit it. I'm not angry that you like the console version, i chalk it up to the fact that you probably are just more used to playing games on a console. I play lots of games on my 360, but they are mostly FPS and action games, and to me, those types of games are more fun on my 360 than on the PC. *shrug*

The only difference is that the console versions have less enemies on screen, inferior graphics, no topdown view, and no toolset.

And some of the areas are nerfed. For instance the third part of "the gauntlet" (no spoilers so I kept it vague)

Meh, you can enjoy the console camera al you want, it doesn't bother me. Since you can replicate that camera in the PC I don't see how it makes the console better. the console version s fine, but the PC version does everything it can do and more, as far as I can tell.

The controls I could see being an issue because you are using a laptop, that stupid little pad is the devil. Add a mouse and give it a shot.

The reasons I gave the post nothing more than a passing glance are as follows:

1) There are like 500000000000 or so comparison posts that cover all this crap already.
2) Aside from the control issues (which is kind of silly since I could retrofit a nintedo controller to my xbox and **** about controls in the same fashion) there are no stated reasons to prefer consoles.

How would you respond if I made a thread that said 'I like cheese, but it is hard to eat with flamethrower"

.......actually..that might be more interesting of a discussion.

Playing Dragon Age on a laptop? Unless you have a beastly laptop I don't see how you coupld be playing the PC version to it's full potential. I just bought a GTX 260 and downloaded the HD Textures among other mods and the game looks amazing.

Control wise, well, that's up to you really. I never played Baldur's Gate, and I found the controls in Dragon Age rather...different at first but now's it's like second nature.

The lack of a proper mouse is probably responsible for the OP's preference. DAO PC is heavily mouse driven - but for a single weird design choice (no pause button in the UI), the entire game can be played with only the mouse.

So, the console version has inferior graphics, no mod support, is buggy and has late patches, some areas and puzzles are nerfed, and on top of this all it costs more money.  Supposedly the console versions have better camera controls, despite the fact that a mouse is about as intuitive as it gets for people who use computers all the time.

Add all that up and you think the console version is better?  Are you weird for thinking that?  No, no one can tell you what to think.  I just don't understand how they do math where you come from.

Console version is inferior in just about every way to the PC version, the camera make cast AOEs a bit arkwerd, the lack of a move command is a real pain on some fights and graphics are ugly as sin

Pretty sure Bioware just don't like us console owners

After 3 days with the xBox 360 version, I traded it in and got the PC version, and haven't regretted that choice one bit (even though it cost me a few bucks because it wasn't an even trade). In some ways it's almost like playing a different game.

Hey,I'm all for the game being on all three platforms.More platforms means I can get the x-box and PS members of my gamer friends to try an awesome game.

Yes,each platform is a little bit diffrent. But at the end of the day I agree with the decision to have made the game on all 3 platforms.Even if I did have to wait an extra SIX MONTHS for my PC copy.

But yea...being able to enjoy the game with friends makes it worthwhile.

Well, DOA is pretty forgiving if played on low details.

I can play it on X59SR Asus laptop, with T3400 CPU and 3470 radeon. Low details, high textures, native 1280x800 resolution, average fps above 20. And it doesn't really look ugly (textures are still better, then on consoles ).
