Is it possible to save Mordin if you sabotage the cure? Is it possible to save him if you don't?

State of things:
(1) Wrex is dead
(2) Maelon's data were preserved.
(3) I chose to tell Mordin about the sabotage, trying to convince him. That didn't go so well. If I choose to delay him, will things play out differently?

BTW: ME3's endings suck and I want a less depressing one. Just FYI.

Keep in mind I'm saying this secondhand from other players' reports, since I haven't saved Mordin yet in a playthrough:

You're almost right, but to save Mordin you have to destroyed Maelon's data, not preserved it. But yes, Wrex has to be dead and Wreav has to be the Urdnot leader instead, and you have to leave the cure sabotaged to side with the salarians.

After that, you may or may not have to use Intimidate or something, I don't know. Like I said, I haven't done this myself yet.

I don't believe so. Based on the dialogues, here is how I interpreted things.

Keeping or destroying the data decides the fate of the female shaman. That in turn defines the effectiveness of the krogan, allowing Wrex to more easily unify the clans or Wreav (if you didn't have Wrex) to not waste time trying to take revenge on whoever.

I spent my renegade playthrough in ME2 driving home the fact that the genophage was a necessary good, past and present, but again reading between the lines in ME3, it looks like Mordin will arrive at the same conclusions no matter what: that circumstances dictate curing the genophage in order to stop Reaper threat. All that your choices in the first two games add up to is the effectiveness of war assets after the fact.

Thank you. I feel like sh*t about killing Mordin, but sometimes that's the price you pay if you do what's necessary.

From my udnerstanding in order to save Mordin you need to not tell him about the sabotage of the Shroud. He won't figure it out and the cure won't work. Then Wrex/Wreav will die.

Mordin does figure it out. I never got any persuasion options, not even greyed out ones. So I guess some factors predetermined what would happen. Perhaps not destroying Maelon's data.

I'd imagine lacking Maelon's data would be the difference alright. Eve's survival is tied to that choice. Without her I could see Mordin seeing the problem with Wreav

You can save Mordin, but it depends on if you preserved the data and if Wrex is alive. In the end, it seems like it comes down to a choice of Wrex or Mordin.
