Do you get Mechdog for missions or does he just walk around in the shuttle bay doing nothing?

man that sucks. was kinda hoping that at least he would follow you around the ship is you wanted. was really hoping that he would be like Dog in Dragon Age: Origins

Frankly, I'm disappointed with the collectors edition. I mean, like you've just pointed out, the robotic dog is really lame...
the alternate outfits suck
the hoodie just looks odd on shepard. He's a soldier for crying out loud...
Sure, the weapons are great, but besides that..... eh.....

The weapons aren't even all that fantastic if you're an infiltrator. I'm sorry but the Mantis is still the best Sniper rifle until you get the Widow, and Carnifax/Pladin are great heavy pistols. Only N7 weapon I use is the Submachine gun.
