My issues with the ending weren't really about the Crucible itself.  I wouldn't call it a Deus Ex situation since they pretty well established that this isn't some magical device that people who secretly believed Shepard have been making but rather the sum total of all cycles.  After all, all races thought that their technology came from the Protheans until recently, so why not this?  And I also knew it wouldn't be the "awesome space cannon" that the characters thought it would be, but it's more the implementation of the choices at the end.

I thought the starkid was a diablos ex machina?

I still say the crucible is a maguffin, had they elaborated on it in ME2 or ME1 I would be much more accepting of it. but instead we get "A wild crucible appears" then no codex, no info, and then RGB and "changed variables" for some reason IDK
