I like the Chakram but the Vindicator is so light I can use his powers more. There is also my first love The Mattock plus the special rifle that came with him. Which is best you think? 



Which do you think is best for Shepard? Specifically, one of the Vanguard variety.

I use the Chakram with my Vanguard. I find it a nice balance of assault rifle and shotgun.

The Particle gun with ammo and damage increase is... deadly I used that from the get go.

Very interesting I guess I will switch Jarvik to that weapon. Only thing is I use ammo powers and if I use Particle Gun I want to be able to see them turn green! So, many good Assault Rifles,

Lets take a vote.


1. Vindicator ( very light weight, good ammo)

2. Particle Rifle ( very powerful, tons of ammo, but heavy)

3. Chakram Launcher ( Powerful, can be charged, also quite heavy)

4. Mattock Rifle ( Probably the best all around AR, accurate)

5. Valkrie Rifle ( Looks really cool, good all around weapon like Mattock)

I like the Phaestron ( I think that is what its called). it looks like the particle beam but shoots bullets.

Wow, so I just used Geth Rifle and its very nice. Its just so heavy, I might switch to it anyway. It feels nice.

Me.  I love the Mattock, its accurate and good.  Slow fire rate is fine given the increased accuracy, far less waisted shots.  But that is just me.

does amount of ammo even matter to a squad members gun? i didnt think they ran out of ammo

I don't think they do run out of ammo. I just need to make this gun lighter. I have not tryed incendiary ammo on the Particle Gun but Cryo Ammo works very well.

that and explosive incinedary ammo together :o. not to mention that the beam gets more and more powerful as u keep firing, so with ammo upgrade u can sustain that peak damage for quite a while.

hmmmmm I guess I gotta try out Explosive Incinedary ammo. It works quite well with Cryo Ammo too because you can freeze them and then just let them have it. I have found this gun works great with Stasis and Dark Channel. WIth stasis you can do like 150% more damage to the target and Dark Channel does DoT then let rip with your Particle Gun. I really wanted to use EDI but Liara and Javik is the best team in my opinion.

Particle beam for Javik... as for Shepard... I don't use an assault rifle, I rely on sniper rifle/shotgun. Way better damage.

They don't run out of ammo and have no weight based cool down.

Yup!  That's what I do for my Shep, too.  
It's very, very fitting as you can totally imagine that beam searing everything in its path and catching things on fire.   However, I don't equip squaddies with it.  They almost never use the charge function and just plink enemies with it.  Plus, as others have mentioned, recharging ammo as a benefit is moot for squaddies.  Plus, as a stylistic thing, I like equipping my squaddies with different main weapons.

Do squadmates actually have a weight rating? I thought they had a flat recharge time. In my game I had Javik and Garrus rolling with Revenants and they had pretty quick power recharge times.

I'm pretty sure the only thing you should worry about when selecting squadmate weapons are damage, fire rate, accuracy and maybe ammo capacity (which only effects how often they need to reload). I'm also not sure if squadmates can charge weapons- can anyone give me confirmation on this?

I imagine the Argus would be great for squadmates since the big recoil of it is nil with them, and they get huge +damage modifiers and it has a high base damage.

However for Javik I can't not have him have the beam. It feels wrong.

I give EDI and Liara the Hornet and they rip through stuff cus recoil isn't a factor for them :)

The Particle Beam is useful if you don't pause the game since it's a big laser pointer on any enemies that try to flank you. Besides squad mates don't actually miss with the beam.
