Romance import conflict: Bug or feature?

Upon importing my Mass Effect 2 gamesave for the first time, I had romanced Thane and completed all the content I could, including the Shadow Broker and Arrival DLC. I had romanced Kaidan for my Mass Effect backstory, and then Thane, to be clear.

However, upon playing Mass Effect 3 through to the point where one can meet Thane in Huerta Memorial Hospital, I found the whole situation too damn depressing.

At this point, I loaded up my Mass Effect 2 savegame, broke up with Thane and proceeded through the Garrus romantic conversations. Since I had already completed the Suicide Mission, there was no way to re-visit the romantic conversational cut scene that plays before that event. However, when I loaded this savegame into Mass Effect 3 and began playing, all seemed well. Both Garrus and Thane reacted appropriately, but everyone else in the game seemed under the impression that this was still a Thane/Shepard show.

For example, when questioning Shepard about suppossed infidelity, Kaidan still mentioned "some assassin" and while it could be argued that Garrus is some assassin, that's not the correct line for a Shepard/Garrus/Kaiden love triangle. In addition, when meeting Jack, she commented on Garrus' scars rather than make the romance-specific line mocking Shepard and Garrus' sexual fetishes.

So, something had clearly gone awry.

Now, this could be explained as a bug where the import doesn't function correctly when romantic affiliations are swapped post-suicide mission or it could be a feature wherin the Thane/Garrus switchover was a more private affair not well known to the crew and thus not commented.

Can anyone clarify, corroborate or find a solution? I'm currently running a test-play to determine if this problem persists for any switched romance (in an attempt to fix the conflict via replaying the endgame of Mass Effect 2) but I'd like to know if this is just a glitch on my part or a less localized issue.

This may be my problem. I am having issues with my Garrus save. Previously I stayed loyal to Kaiden, but then went back after the suicide mission and decided to romance Garrus. When I imported my save, it listed Garrus as my romance choice for ME3. Everything was fine, and after I got to Palivian, I was able to reignite the romance, as it were. But after that I can't get any of the romance scenes to play. Kaidan never confronts me in the hospital and no one on the squad recognizes the romance, and I have the same problem with Jack. I am glad I am not the only one, I have been looking for answers for days and haven't been able to find any.

My experiences are similar— the responses on Palaven and the way it correctly listed Garrus as my romance in the import description seemed to say that the fix had gone well.

I'll let you know about how my replaying the suicide mission with the romance switched goes, as a fix. It's a lot more than I really WANT to do to get it fixed, but if it works, it's much better than nothing.

Okay, please do let me know. I am going to retry the mission as well, will have to sacrifice Kelly to do it but, well... Adds variety I guess. XP

UPDATE: Just to let you know, this was the problem. I restarted after romancing Garrus before the suicide mission, and just restarted ME3. Had the conversation with Kaidan. :)

Oh, excellent, thank you. Although I must say, it does seem pretty confusingly done, the way it is. I hope I get a comment from an official source as to the whys and whatfors.
